Normally People do not recommend Mahabaleshwar in the rain.I had an good experience in the rain, We visited in 10th Sept 2010 when the rain was almost over. We went via Mahad and came via Pune. As it was id & Ganapathy the traffic was terrible and it took up 12 hours from Nerul which normally should have taken 5-6 hr.
We stayed at MTDC Special suite.The hotel is 1 km before you reach the Mahabaleshawar bazar.The rooms are not good as I had expected like Rajastan -RTDC or Goa GTDC.But for the money it is OK.The next day we visited Pratapgad fort in the morning which is OK nothing much to see.Second half we went to Lingamala water fall which is near Kates point towards pune.The waterfall was worth the travel and the best point as per me in Mahabaleshwar.
It is a 25 min treck to the point .There are 2-3 ways that you can go trecking.Kates point was also good. You can have a good treck at Tiger Path We could not see Bombay point due to the mist.The third day we check out of the hotel and visited Arther seat and traveled towards Panchagni.On way we stopped at Malas shop. We can buy their Jams cheaper at Dmart but if you want to buy Crush you can stop here. We reached Nerul by 9 PM.
