No Meet ... The Mouthshut Delhi Clambake!

Let me begin with an apology to all those who are reading my review thinking it is about the music album, this is about “yet another” Delhi meet!

Now that the word “meet” has become so often on Mouthshut, I thought we need to call this one something different and the best I found was A Delhi Clambake (note the zing in the word that’s a synonym with all the fun we had today!). The last review I wrote about a meet was (I admit) not-so-great, so here is my effort to do a better job about the Clambake! Not SO many emails, scraps, chats, etc happened this time, just a mail from “the guest of honor” and a sms from Sujata (and a wake-up call) and we were all there. SUNDAY MORNING 10:30AM… no comments! We killed a lazy morning, but it was SO worth it.

Exploring another of Delhi’s coffee bars, the Mouthshut freaks got together to open mouths, and we opened them SO BIG! Though I can go on telling you about the series of actions, but let me do it different this time. In a sentence I can tell you we got together, drank two rounds of drinks, chatted, clicked pics, laughed and laughed and got back. (Yes we did pay the bills but not so equally shared this time ;)

This time round I am gonna share with you guys what just reviews or mails or m2ms or comments or chats can never disclose! So here are some Clambake Secrets

Let’s begin with the “guest of honor”, the lady of the day, the lovely-laughter(ed), intelligent, creative, Star Writer Mags. The first thing you will notice about her is her “perfect” hand shake. If you crack a joke, she’ll laugh and enjoy it just like it has to be. You tell her you love her reviews and she will give you the perfect reply. She knows when to click pictures (we’ll know if she knows exactly how to edit them when she passes them). She knows how to leave her share of the bill. She has the perfect hug you would want before leaving. By this time you are so sure she is best at what she does – training etiquettes, and she is a perfect example of “practice what you preach”. Something that I got to know from a reliable source was that she had curly hair sometime back unlike her straight hair this time.

Sitting on her left was Sujata, “one of the prettiest people I have ever seen”. Enchanting appearance with lovely eyes and an early riser for sure, Sujju woke me up at 8:30am with a wake up call as the deal we had made. She can make you feel so comfortable that you would feel you know her since ages. I still cannot believe that she is a mother of two for she appears younger even to me! : P. Talk to her about books, places, coffee or anything else that you can think of and she will have the EXACT words for them all. I know that because when I was still thinking how to word what was wrong with my ice tea, she knew it was the “after taste” (a word she added to my vocab). I was not at all surprised when she told me her ordeal with some man acting smart with her for she is too pretty for anyone to avoid! ;)

Sanjoy sat next to the A/c vent, so he had all the fun, while poor us sat in the sun! He had come SO prepared this time, carrying a deep black pair of sun glasses, SO dark that you really wouldn’t notice that his eyes are “hazel”!!! Next time I am sure he will carry a helmet with him. : P. The Suave, Charming, Debonairsoldier indeed deserves to be called all of that and more! (Mags you must add the other adjectives that I missed). He takes all your jokes in healthy humor and if he feels really bad about them, he gives you a blow of chilled air by turning the vent towards you. Trust me if it hadn’t been for him, we would have not had anything today because there were no waiters coming towards our corner of the place until he got up and dragged them here!

Next time your computer or cell phone gives problems or you need math tuitions call Anuj, atleast I am gonna do that! He reached earliest (but dint even brag about it, I remember how proud I was of it last time). He has a camera phone and is SO well behaved that he would let you look at your pics, make sure you like them and if you don’t, he’ll let you delete them and click another one and again ask you to take a quality check! After all that, he’ll let you transfer them on your cell phone, infact he’ll do it for you! Now trust me you can’t call him anything less than a gentleman!

Sonikawas the only one who gave me a compliment about my last review (and my smile), so this time I chose to sit with her (I know that is the HIGHT of fishing for compliments). She is SO calm and mellow that when I sit back and think right now I feel she must’ve felt I was SO uncivilized! : P. She was the most daring of the lot to have the courage to take a stand that she is not going to have the “ice tea with crushed mint” just because she paid for it, while we all struggled to gulp it down our throat. You know she likes you just with her mere presence, atleast I felt it SO strongly. Also, I am sure she would hate me for noting it, but since accent is my job, she has a certain way of pronouncing “s” which makes it sound SO good that I am already copying her!

Megha is the new Queen of Meets! She has met people from MS at traffic signals, metro stations, bus stops, etc. etc. and she did it yet again today by meeting me on a road (not even a signal or bus stop this time). I have no clue why, but I was SO excited to meet her, ‘coz I was FINNALLY meeting the girl who I knew is “like me” and whom others thought I meet everyday (or childhood buddies or some thing). She’s got really pretty eyes… Mags’s gonna tell us the color (since I don’t even know what color hazel is?). I owed her money since even before we met and even now I owe her Rs. 10! We were “coupled together” from the beginning till the end, and I SO loved it!

The clambake was a hit like no meets before… and it SO left all of us wanting for more… more… more (of anything but that “ice tea with crushed mint !!!)

Many have done many quickies on MS, but I never got a chance, let me do a
