Mt . Abu is a green oasis in the barren desertscape that is Rajasthan
Situated at the southern tip of Aravali range , the hill retreat owes its cool climate to its rich flora covering the entire hillside that includes coniferous trees and flowering shrubs. The road leading to Mt. Abu is curved one characterized by arid region dotted with huge rocks in weird shapes and high velocity winds .
i use to go to my.abu very frequently as palanpur is my native place which is just 60kms.away.we go to aburoad to have bhajias, samosa which is its specialities.its just 30 kms from abu road.i have went there in all types of season.in rain ,winter, summer.but my best experience was rain.last year when mumbai suffered from 26/7 rain incident ,even it was highest in mountabu.we were very scared but we went.i felt as if I was flying with the clouds.couldnt see the car ahead of me.
i dont dislike anything about it.it has many tourist spots from which the main are NAKKI LAKE ,DELWARA TEMPLE which dates back to 13th century.
ATTRACTIONS:
NAKKI LAKE
heart of the town , the lake gets its name from the legend that it was scooped out by the gods with their finger nails or ‘Nakh’ . It is the only artificial lake in India that it 1200 mts. above the sea level . it has a boating facility
Dilwara Jain Temples : These beautifully carved temples built between 11th and 13th century A.D are sheer elegance in marble , dedicated to the Jain Tirthankaras .
The Vimal Vasahi temple is the oldest of these dedicated to the first Tirthankara . Built in 1031 A.D (by Vimal Shah – Merchant and representative of then Gujarat Ruler ), it is superb example of temple architecture .
IT HAS ITS DHARAMSHALA WHERE ONE CAN HAVE LUNCH.
Adhar Devi Temple : The temple is chiselled out of a huge rock reached by a flight of 360 stairs . A favourite tourist
