First things first. This is definitely not the worst phone in the market. But I would not recommend this phone to anyone without conditions. Since the stakes were high, I gave this a 'NO'
*Pluses
*1.Looks of this phone simply stuns everyone.U get that disbelief in the faces if u say u just payed 8000 for this!
2.Music clarity is pretty good. Cant complain
3.Phone is robust and can withstand heavy usage
4.The technological superiority of motorola is frank and straight forward. Better than Nokia, samsung, lg and even sony in certain aspects
5.The one touch music key and key pad lighting is a simply awesome idea
Minuses
1.VERY, tat s right very poor camera quality. Photos in daylight are too good, while those in dim light suck!!! u expect more for 8000
2.Terribly complicated usage. Even for a regular phone-switcher, it would take 2 weeks to settle down to the controls
3.Poor quality paint.it s started coming off near the charger opening
4.No extra themes, backgrounds etc provided with the phone and sadly none available in the net too :(
5.Very low features and poor browser
6.My PC suite sucks big time! I get downtrodden before even messaging through my laptop.
7.Phone gets hanged sometimes due to no reason! I cant beleive it happens even with moto!!
Motorola has clearly chosen to limit the features and cash in on it.Shame on them
But certain aspects show what their true quality is, for example, my Nokia N70 would hang if I delete a 100 text messages at a time. But in this phone it happens like knife through butter
It was very bad on their part for not providin additional themes.Though we can make custom themes, the background always remains black! So ppl who hate black, pls re-consider
The pc suite is too slow and gets u sore if u send messages to distribution list through yr system or even if u try to delete messages from the phone.
Certain other aspects:
1.Speed of the phone(with 1 gb card) is faster than the nokia n series phones but slower than the java phones
2.The head phone jack is kept on top to make it convenient for music listeners
3.Radio clarity and menu display is good
4.Call reception and clarity with head phones is fairly flawless
5.Key pad lock is a manual switch found at the side of the phone
6.The su-do-ku game, defaulty available wit the phone is a nice idea
7.The side keys are useful in raising and lowering the call volume while on call
If you are seriously considering this phone, don just follow it by looks. I did expect something more solid from moto.I was disappointed
Update (06.08.2009)
Phone has suddenly become tooooo slow...I cant understand why!!!! My usage and all usual stuff have not changed. But stil the phone has become too slow. Only a restart brings it slightly closer to normal. Its really irritating to restart it now and then
