I bought myself a brand new A1200 for around 14k, the phone was sleek and had everything I needed like email, document viewer and of course MP3 player. Only thing was that the day I bought the phone, it had trouble playing MP3's and then next day anything I stored on the memory card got corrupted after I restarted the phone.

I went straight to the vendor who told me I had to take the 3 day old phone to the service centre, after much deliberation I decided to give the system a try and went to the service centre. There I was informed the memory card was faulty, the vendor then switched around 4 memory cards the problem still remained, it was then I told the vendor to replace the phone, after a heated arguement he did replace it. Motorola has to have a better policy for replacing sets. In fact the phone would have gotten a better rating from me, but the first contact with it has seriously dented its rating.

Anyway the next set I had, is perfectly functional and working well for the past few weeks. So without further delay straight to the features and drawbacks

a) 2 Mega Pixel camera is good, but the video capture is not up to the mark, that needs to be worked on

b) Picture editor, now a lot of people keep criticising the picture editing tool, the truth is I don't see anything wrong with it, it does a hell of lot more than most other PDA's.

c) You can open various document formats, only thing is you can't edit them.:(. anyone know software I can download to do that?

d) The phone comes with Realone player, which has a few set backs, the play list length cannot be more than 50. my last Nokia did around 200. Also no graphic equalizer, anyone know a mp3 player that can be installed on A1200?

e) The phone can be used without the flap open, and the smart keys feel really sturdy and allow you do stuff like read new messages, operate the realone player and the camera.

f) Like recent Motorola phones, the looks are really very sleek, and this is perhaps the only phone that has a completely transparent flap, the only non transparent part is the speaker, even that in glass finish would be the s**t.

So to sum it up is it worth 14k, yes. Does it offer all the features of a PDA, partly, it could do with a mini keyboard. Do I recommend the phone, in spite of my initial harrowing experience yes, if you want PDA functionality this is a good piece.

UPDATE: I recently discovered that simply dumping MP3s into the memory card restricts its space. I now have to make seperate folders to utilize the 1GB space to the maximum. I think Motorola should have a more user friendly user manual.
