When I was about to finish this book, a new channel was airing news about Arunachal Pradesh. India and China are battling on ho has this state. The news made me really think of people in this terrorist affected part, their dreams and struggle for peaceful life. Reason being this BOOK. It also deals with subject of Civil war and uncertainty of life.

Nulani Mendis, a serene girl who has almost lost everything in life. Her father was burnt alive by Tamilians, her mother is tense for her Son’s future than her daughter and her brother who is very selfish and as no emotional bonding with Nulani. Her sufferings are not out in words but they are spilled all over the canvas. She paints… Off late only one thing she is drawing, Theo.

His man servant Sugi manages to send Nulani to Theo’s friend Rohan in Colombo as Theo has requested.

~ My Take on Book~
When I picked it up I liked its cover and I liked the name. The picture had made me think what can be there in the book to be named as Mosquito. There are few references of mosquitoes in the book. In the end you come to know why it’s called as Mosquito.
During the book you get glimpse of a War – torn country, Sri Lanka. I was really not aware of political instability in Sri Lanka. Though, we have lost Rajiv Gandhi, as aftermath of this distress in southern part of India. But the book makes you wonder what must be going through minds of people staying in such instability. Their sensitiveness, fears even dreams are so fragile. Sometimes you find them too stone hearted to be true and sometimes too weak to bear one more wound.
Roma Tearne had made story very interesting. Not too many characters but each one strong enough to give that extra edge to story. It’s not a tale heroism but it’s about survival and how we adopt to situations when they are mercilessly thrown at us by life. The characterization of Theo and Nulani are very close to life. Every emotion of these characters are so intense, they make you take those twist and turns with them. Roma has made real impressive job in making the characters closer to reality.
My rating for this one is 4 / 5 and must read for all those who love reading bit complex novels. I loved it. Hopefully you ill also like it…
