Surprised to see, there are no mouthshut reviews on Mojo Pizzas yet!
Once upon a time, a Medium pizza was large enough to completely cater to the appetite of two foodies. These days, a medium size pizza from popular brands would hardly suffice for one foodie. In these days of shrinking pizza sizes and inflating prices, there is one notable exception - Mojo.
People who have read my reviews in the past would have known that I was a patron at Papa John pizzas for long, until PJ's miserable service and quality turned me away from them. For a couple of years in between, I did look around at local pizzerias, specifically looking at independent outlets offering quality, at a price.
Some time in 2016, I came across Mojo's app in the Google play store, and they had an introductory offer. I decided to try out, thinking there was nothing to lose anyway. And I was glad I tried. What is the USP?
Mojo does not offer a smattering of sizes - no Small, Medium, Large etc. You get only one size, that's the 10"(which used to be the'Medium" standard for pizzas before PH and Dominos started the trend of smaller-than-usual pizzas for unchanged prices.) The selection of flavors is good, and you can always customize your order to your liking. You get a choice of regular, thin-crust and cheese-burst bases(Haven't tried thin-crust, cheeseburst was far too cheesy for my taste). Sides are limited in choice, but trust me, you wouldn't miss them.
When it comes to taste, they are way above average. I wouldn't right away tag them as the best pizzas around but they are certainly much better than anything you'd get from other commercial chains. All toppings are generous and chicken bits are chunky. They are quite generous with the cheese toppings so I'd recommend avoiding the "extra cheese" option. I'd rank Mojo 5/5 for the taste. If I were looking for anything better, I'd probably be heading to an independent pizzeria where I'd be able to get handcrafted, wood-fired, smokey-smelling pizzas at a much pricier point and without home delivery options.
So are there any caveats? I can point out only one - their app still detects several locations as unserviceable, even though a call to their customer service department confirms that they will deliver. Not really a major issue, but it us certainly disappointing to see "Your location is not supported yet" everytime you start the app. My apartment is located at one of those "unserviceable" locations and they deliver though Box8. Never been an issue with the delivery though.
