I bought the Mitsubishi air conditioner from Gain City in Jun. Due to the stock issue, they can only install on 1 Aug which I patiently waited since I was told that their air conditioner is the best as it is very quiet.
Out of the 3 units installed, one unit was showing problem on the very first night on 1 Aug - it has water dripping sound as well as "kong" sound intermittently especially in the middle of the night. I was woken up so many times in the night. I contacted the technician on 4 Aug who installed the air conditioner. He advised me to monitor a few more days. The issue still persist so I again contacted the same technician on 7 Aug. All this while no one told me about the Gain City 8 days replacement policy. I gave them a chance to resolve it. They said they will contact Mitsubishi agent to come and take a look. Due to the national day holiday and tight schedule(it must have been there are a lot of issues with Mitsubishi products), they could only send someone to check on 11 Aug. The agent came and checked and said some installation issue and they changed something. And again ask me to monitor. The issue on that night got worst! The "kong" sound was taking place even more frequent after the agent did something.
I contacted Mitsubishi and was told I had to contact Gain City to do the 1-1 exchange, called Gain City customer service and they said they need to talk to Mitsubishi agent. All these while pushing responsibilities to each other. I have even the audio recording by Gain City technician saying that alot of customers had complained about this batch of air conditioners having problems.
Both Gain City and Mitsubishi knew about this and none wanted to acknowledge it.
I must say I am so disappointed with Mitsubishi products. The reason why I purchased this brand despite having to wait 2 months for the stock was because I heard the air conditioner is very quiet. But this incident shows their quality. I am requesting them to do a one to one exchange but I am not sure if they will give me more problem by asking me to monitor again and again.
I am writing this to warn other customers maybe it is time to consider other brands as well. Just because Mitsubishi used to be good doesn't mean it is always the best.
Latest updates:
In less than 2 months and the air conditioner has been giving me issues- not just the kong sound mentioned above, the air conditioner is “spitting” out water droplets when I switch it on. Till now Mitsubishi is still trying to push responsibilities. Have spoken to at least 2 vendors(one of them is Gain City) and they also confirmed that the recent batch of Mitsubishi air conditioner has a lot of issues. This is so unethical of them to still be selling the products when there are defects and so shameless to insist there is no defects. Maybe this was a good brand in the past but the recent experience, I will NEVER ever buy this brand again.
The customer service is also not helpful at all. This has been such a painful experience. I have always trusted Japanese brand but Mitsubishi has been a shame!
Let this be a warning to all potential customers. Better do your own research and explore other brands instead.
