Many of you would have noticed that the restaurants I write a review about are usually the low-cost ones. well thats coz as a student I really can't afford the high-end eating places. another of my new discoveries is Mithas. a real sweet delight it is to visit the place. as sweet its name is, equally sweet is its menu, cost, location and ambience. lets take each one of these at a time in alphabetical order :
Ambience : really good. the seats are all placed against the walls with with the walls done up in a nice reddish-brown. plus false plants hanging here and there add to the touch. one side of the restaurant is completely occupied by the counter filled with mouth-watering delights which are simply a feast for the eyes and the mouth of those with a sweet-tooth. on top of that all of these are freshly made. my favourite place to sit in this place is the central table on the first floor. after u climb up a marble staircase there is an upper storey where the arrangement is mostly same as that on the ground floor except that here there is a large family table right in the centre . it has got a miniature roof and pillars of it own with false plants and the light being concealed behind stained glass which add a nice glow. on the walls also there are strategically placed false stained glass windows, even though they dont have ANY view. also two televisions have been placed for the couch potatoes on each side of the room. all the time instrumental versions of all the slow foot-tapping pop hits are played as lounge music which does add a nice touch. the corners of the restaurant are made into cosy corner dining tables for lovers to have a private conversations without the fear of others listening in. real lovely.
Cost : Again a trademark of my choice of restaurants i.e. real down to earth. 4 people after eating to out to our heart's content and we managed to fork up a bill of just rs.276. I ask you everyone , in these days where do you get such a billing these days. all you pocket conscious people looking for a good time head over here. which brings me to its location.
Location : It is situated near Khelgaon Marg. For those of you who are in delhi or have been here recently, Ansal Plaza near south ex market shouldn't be a new name for you. well when u set out from south ex towards ansal plaza, pass the place and go until the next red light and take a right turn. here on your right hand side you will come upon two colleges, first Kamla Nehru College and the next Gargi College. Mithas is situated in a small complex on the left hand side directly opposite to the gate of Kamla Nehru College. the best time to go to Mithas for all tennagers especially of the male sex is in the daytime because the two colleges I mentioned are all girls colleges and the crowd is really good. but in the evenings you can go with your family because at this time the crowd is really good and only family people come here. right next to Mithas is a Barista's outlet so those of you who dont want Mithas coffee (which is also pretty good) can head over to Barista's after a fulfilling dinner for a night-cap.Outside Mithas there are stalls of Pav Bhaji, Chaat, Gol-gappas for all of you so inclined.
Menu - Mithas recently went for a makeover and have brought out a real nice menu with all varieties. Best to try are Chhole Bhature, Dal Makhani, Grilled Sandwiches, Masala Dosa and Chowmein on cabbage leaves. Also their coconut chutney is real sumptuous.
I guess thats it for now. My stomach is still very full from my last night's dinner over there and I need a little sleep. This place is also good for birthday treats as I proved it with my band of friends. 10 of us managed to bring up a bill of only Rs.750. amazing no. but my friends managed to blow up my savings by making me buy chocolates for them afterwards. anyways.cheerios.
