Some time in 1967 AD...
An aged professor performing an intense experiment with burettes, pipettes, bunsen burners strewn around, chemicals of various proportions participating in a fancy dress competition, The sullen soul erupting in joy, The much coveted Faarmulaa is ready, The ever faithful and complacent Raamu Kaka entering the room with a covered plate & uttering Maalik, khaana tayyar hai, in whispers, turning towards the boiling froth in the beaker and asking Yeh Kya Hai...Maalik, The professor smiling Meri zindagi bhar ki mehnat hai yeh... FAARMULAA, Before the drop of an eyelid, Raamu Kaka removes the hanging moustache & flowing beard, takes out the Revolver grinning in utmost delight, Bahut tadpaya hai, PRAAFESAR, is FAARMULEE ke liya...Dhishum Dhishum DhichhKyaaon DhichKyaaon...
Bambai police is on the lookout for Kaamu Raka (Raamu Kaka's Real Name), who has stolen the FAARMULAA (No one ever comes to know what that was), Inspector VIJAY (Mera Naam Hai Vijay...Vee Aai Jey A Wai VIJAY) comes to recover The Stolen FAARMULAA in a Rajdoot (With Starting Problem...) before Raka sells it to the Videshi Taaqat (Videsh is a proud importer of Stolen Faarmulas...The same holds now as well:), Then starts the game, Well...Hold On...
Monica 'O' My Darling comes to entrap our Desi Inspector... Bappi Lahiri in Full Flow.... Monicaaaa Maine tumhe Galaat samjha.. tum to Raka se mili hui ho... Nahiiiiinn Vijay... I'll go to Raka & get the FAARMULAA, kyon ki maine tumse pyaar kiya hai.
Raka is surprised to find his estranged consort. Is mein tumhari koi Chal to nahin hai... But, Raka's right hand (Raka and The Ganglords of that period used to have Two Right hands, one on the body & the other outside... very uncommon species elsewhere, Found largely in the Indian Subcontinent) Robert is suspicion personified, Boss, There's something Wrong in Right... But, Yeh to hona hi tha... Monica's inTENSIONS are soon discovered and it's upto VIJAY (Please don't pronounce it as VJ, That's an altogether different species not evolved at that time) to get MONICA & FAARMULAA, both intact... Monicaaa, mein aaaa raha hooon, Mein tumhe kho nahi sakta (KEEP IN MIND THIS DIALOGUE).
Raka makes Monica sit on an electric chair & switches on the power supply. The Dangerous Criminal booked under Dafaa 440 (440 Volts) starts running from the SwitchBoard. Vijay is in full speed atop his Rajdoot (Which finally started)... Then follows the RACE OF THE MILLENNIUM (Forget Schumacher and F1) Rajdoot Vs 440 Volts... & Imagine the result, Vijay pulls Monica out of the chair, before 440 Volts reaches the chair... Robert & his associates start firing at Vijay, Vijay has got only one revolver & six bullets... Still, Vijay is Vijay... He takes out a tuning fork (Remember Sound & Acoustics in Physics) hits it against his rajdoot, when it starts vibrating he fires all the bullets at the Tuning Fork, The Bullets are split into many pieces & travel towards all the directions, killing the villains instantly.
But, Raka laughs his heart out when he learns that Vijay has exhausted his ammunition, He, atleast has a bullet to offer, fires the exclusive bullet at Vijay... But, Trust the WonderBoy... Before the bullet reaches him, Vijay opens the bullet case of his Revolver & lets the bullet get into the empty catridge. Then, From Vijay with Love.. DhichKyaaon ... Raka bites the dust & the FAARMULAA falls into safe hands...
Bollywood's Crown Prince Vijay Saves the Day...
Some time in 2000 AD...
Someone named John Woo plans to perform an Encore of the FAARMULAA (Copyrights Bollywood) topic made famous by the Bambai phillum industry. Retains the lead actor (Who else !! Tom Cruise) from the prequel in the role of the IMF agent Ethan Hunt pursuing the theft (Call it Confiscation) of a deadly skin-corroding virus suitably christened CHIMERA(After the Greek Demon having the head of a lion & a serpentine tail). The stealer is none other than an Ex-IMF agent Sean Ambrose, played brilliantly by Australian debutante Dougray Scott who thanks to an ingullible impersonation (Audio-Visual) of Ethan, traps the creator of the virus in a pilotless aircraft before fanning out with his gang. Enter Monica, sorry Nyah Nordoff Hall (The dusky Thandie Newton) a thief by profession, who also happens to be Sean's Ex-Girlfriend. As Ethan manages to recruit the novice belle after a jaw-dropping Car Frolic atop a rocky detour in Seville, Spain as he's been ordered to do so, The Emotional impact of Bollywood takes over. Love birds cuddle each other as Nyah is deployed in the snazzy precincts of Sydney Opera House, to charm & disarm Sean off Chimera & Bellerophon (The Antidote). Biocyte is a pharmaceutical company interested in marketing the virus & antivirus and strikes a deal with Sean. Sean is all smiles as Nyah sizzles, but the RIGHT HAND factor comes alive with rookie assistant (Rade Serbedzija) casting a critical eye upon Nyah. As destined, after a couple of FACE-OFFs Nyah is taken hostage by Sean in a bid to lure Ethan. Finally, Ethan buckles up his shoes with the help of Ving to unleash the final assault upon the smart Gang to recover the stolen artefacts as well as his enamorata, love interest,Nyah.
One of the most Stylish Movies ever filmed, MI2 leaves you breathless. John Woo infuses his trademark into every aspect of this movie, be it the slow motion action choreography or the flight of the pigeons before a flurry of eye-popping stunts. But, it's the slickness that goes down very well with the audience. The sight of a Dangling Ethan negotiating the boulders with ease is as exciting as the Bungee-Jumping Ethan from a chopper into the shadowy highrise of Biocyte. And no word would suffice the most adventurous of Bike chases ever captured, with Ethan & Sean zooming towards each other riding DUCATIs (No Rajdoots with Starting Problems here !!). Ethan goes kicking & punching as well with a liberal fare of Kick-Boxing doing the rounds. The scenes capturing the victorious escapades of Ethan inside the cave-like interiors of Sean's Den with Ethan performing some of the stupendous gravity defying stunts should be seen to be believed. But, one of the highpoints of the movie is the incorporation of Romantic elements & histrionics a la Bollywood. Ethan bursts at the top of the voice to Nyah, after the latter has injected herself with Chimera to save Ethan''s life,Stay Alive... I'm not gonna lose you (Remember the Bollywood Dialogue mentioned in the top half).
The cast & crew have done a magnificent Job. Tom Cruise has a tailor-made role and shines as expected. Thandie Newton is an impressive newcomer although she doesn't have much to gurgle in her role. Ving Rhaimes as the Systems supervisor of Ethan carries over where he had left in the First Part. The Yugoslavian Rade as Sean's Right Hand throws sarcastic looks & tries to act smart, but that was needed of him. But, The winner is the handsome & flamboyant Dougray Scott who rips apart the screen with an author backed role. He, even manages to outstage Tom at places with a charming & suave performance. Anthony Hopkins chips in a cameo as the super-ordinate of Ethan. Very few know that It's William Mopather, Tom's cousin who plays the character looking after the financial transactions of Sean thru a laptop. The Background score by Hans Zimmer has become a rage and could be heard on all mobile phones.
A Stylish Bollywood Encore shines in Hollywood...
