Location :
Located in the Opera House Area, Mischief stands out as a nicely decorated, clean place in an otherwise shabby and congested area. Mischief is located right next to Central Plaza Cinema in the center of “Proper” Bombay.
Ambience:
Color scheme “white” and fairly spacious seating arrangement, puts you immediately at ease as you enter Mischief. The tables are fairly spaced apart, giving you a comfortable feeling. If not spacious, it is certainly not “cramped-up”. The tables are adequately large too. The arrangement , classic style of sofas along the walls, and comfortable chairs facing them.
Food :
Mischief serves most common varieties of Indian, Muglai, and Punjabi cuisine. Starting with soups, I tried “Cream of Tomato”. Unlike most restaurants of Mumbai, the soup was “prepared” and not the tinned version. If it was (tinned), it certainly didn’t taste like one. All the dishes are nicely prepared. Mildly spicy and almost every dish tastes the way it should. I would particularly recommend “Mirch Ka Salan” and “Vegetable Kabab Masala” (do remember to request extra gravy for Veg. Kabab Masala) for vegetarians and “Buttter Chicken” for non-vegetarians. All the dishes are prepared “mildly spicy”. However if you prefer, you can safely ask the steward to prepare your food spicy, and I guarantee you will not be dissatisfied. Simply because unlike most other restaurants where “spicy” merely means extra chilies, Mischief actually prepares the dishes with ALL the right spices added on. They offer almost all types of breads. Naan (plain as well as fair variety of stuffings), Rumaali Roti, Tandoori Roti, Kulcha (once again plain as well as fair variety of stuffings). If you are not watching your calories, I would recommend “Cheese Naan”. We didn’t order any deserts, so I cant tell anything about them.
Service :
The service is adequately prompt and polite. Unlike some other restaurants, the stewards are aware of what is being served. If you ask them for details of any dish, they are normally ready with the explanation, and don’t have to “go to kitchen and ask for information”.
Additional :
Mischief also has a small party hall on second floor. A nice cozy hall for a small party with installed lighting and music system. This gives you the option of arranging a simple “dinner” party, as well as a “dance” party. They also have a DJ.
All in all a pleasant experience to dine-out at Mischief.
Sunil Shetty may not be a smashing hit in the films, but has certainly come up with a winner as far as Mischief is concerned.
