Our Dear MILI. Review on Mili

Hrishida' started his career as a part of Bimal Roy's team in 1951. One of the most prolific & sincere directors of our cinema. With his debut film Musafir(1957),he had become

an independent Director. His films have brought sunshine & joy to the Indian cinema.

An ANGELIC MAN CAUGHT IN A DEVILISH SITUATION was his TRADEMARK. Films like Anari with Raj Kapoor, Satyakam with Dharmendra, Anand & Namak Haram with Rajesh Khanna were not mere little tales of human whimsy tht warmed our hearts but they were 'THE MESSENGERS SHOWING US THE PATH TO FIGHT THE EVIL/BAD WITHIN THE SOCIETY'.

THEY WERE NOT JUST TO ENTERTAIN THE AUDIENCES,BUT HIS FILMS WERE ABT GR8 COMPASSION, A DELICATE BALANCE BETWEEN HOPE & FEAR, LIFE & DEATH likes Anand, Satyakam, Mili... .

In 70's his films & comedies like Aarshirwad (1968), Guddi (1971), Bawarchi (1972), Abhimaan (1973), Namak Haram (1973), Chupke Chupke (1975), Mili (1975), Golmaal (1979) & Khubsoorat(1980) showed his understanding of middle-class mentality, its outworn values, failings & foibles. He could spin enchantment,make us cry & laugh, have charmed audiences & critics alike. His such films MADE US THINK ABT OUR OWN ACTIONS & DISADVANTAGES, IRONY & SENSIBILITY.

In 2000, he was awarded the Dadasaheb Phalke Award and on January 26, 2001, he was awarded the Padma Vibhushan for his contribution to Indian Cinema.

The Plot of MILI once again had a delicate storyline with the subject tht was repeated. The lead characters played by Ashok Kumar, Jaya Bhaduri, Amitabh & others.

The music was composed by S. D. Burman.

The heroine of the film, MILI is jovial, full of life, fun-loving gal, who never annoys anyone. All the residents of the apt' were fond of her. Her laughter was smth tht filled everybody's heart. She spreads cheer wherever she goes, plays with the kids in the neighbourhood. Everything was alrite till a new neighbour shifts to the same apt.

The new neighbour, an angry young alcoholic man, quiet & brooding Shekhar, who had bad childhood.

He hates socialising & noise of kids.

Mili, the only person who cld change him with her soft, polite & very understanding nature, carved a warm, loving person outta Shekhar. The love blossomed between the two. However, fate had a set plan for Mili. She was diagnosed with leukemia.

After finding the truth, what happens to their love??? Whether it was ended like same old hindi film or not??? Well, let the end remains a mystery to mk u excited.

SD Burman's music is exceptional with songs like

''Badi sooni sooni hai, zindagi yeh zindagi...'' and

''Aye tum yaad mujhe, gaane lagi har dharkan''.

Gr8 performances from Jaya, amitabh Bachchan & Ashok Kumar. Jaya was fragile with infectious charm & assured performance.

Amitabh again in the image of an angry young man uncoiled and exploded !

Ashok Kumar found lasting fame as the kind father figure of 1000 several films-happily home spun & eminently endearing.
