In the same way that the Iphone 5’ s Indian market pricing was revealed the Surface RT has emerged on ebay .in albeit unofficially starting its pre-booking which had started in 8 other countries including the US. But this might have been a very bold and calculated step because after the launch of the ipad mini, this step would have been suicidal.
Disclaimer – This is a specs review and not a user review. Expect it after the tablet is officially available in the market. Because none of these will make sense until you yourself touch one. My job is to make the specifications simpler to understand for you’ll.
Size – A thickness of 9.3 mm with a width of 10.81 inches and a height of 6.7 inches weighing 680 gms. This tablet is one of the heavier tablets recently released.
Screen – The screen measures at 10.6 inches and has a super LCD touch screen capacitive 5 point multitouch display with a resolution of 1366 x 768 px with 150 ppi pixel density which is disappointing. It has a 16:9 aspect ratio
Processors – The device is armoured with Nvidia Tegra quad core processor. Which is one of the best in the market. It also has a dedicated gpu. In three words Fast, slick and very, very promising.
Memory – The device comes with 2GB of Ram and variable internal memories of 32 GB and 64 GB variants and with a micro sd card support of upto 64gb.
Connectivity - It support wifi a/b/g/n and is equipped with Bluetooth 4.0.
Camera – The device has both a front and a rear camera both capable of 720p HD Video recording. The resolution is not yet confirmed. But the front camera s said to have a resolution of 1.30 MP
Ports – The tablet has the following ports a USB 2.0, microSDXC card slot, headset jack, HD video out port (proprietary), cover port
Sensors – It features a Ambient light sensor, accelerometer, gyroscope, and a compass
Battery – Has a capacity of 31.5 Wh, which can run to a maximum of 8 hours of continuous usage.
Plus the Surface RT also comes with a pen input.
Price - the 32 GB version was released on ebay with a price of around 38900 Rs.
To wrap it up!!!
It's impossible to weigh in on Surface RT as of now that we have not had it in hand, When we only handled one of the two tablets, and when each hands-on opportunity amounted to a Supermarket Sweep-style tour of various demo areas . Surface for Windows RT is well-made, polished, durable and carefully engineered. And yes, that's sobering news: Microsoft's own OEM partners, everyone from ASUS to Acer to HP, should feel a tinge of defensiveness. If the Redmond giant’s mission until now has been to showcase all the possible form factors for Windows 8, it may have just taken a step in the opposite direction by upstaging everybody else.
