Google came up with an idea to provide the latest software updates just like what they do for the nexus devices to budget friendly devices so that a normal citizen can feel and taste google's latest desserts and that resulted in the making of Android One, a device aimed to recieve Google's latest software with a minimal price tag.Google in collaboration with three Indian Brands namely Micormax, Karbonn and Spice launched the First generation of Android One devices which is all same to one another except for the different branding.
I bought the Micromax Canvas A1 which was priced at Rs 5499 as I felt that it was the better brand among the three(*personal preference/choice) .
The phone has a got a 4.5 inch qHd display( not Quad Hd but quarter of a HD display) .The display is good for a budget oriented device. The brightness of the display is not bad and the sunlight legibility is also good enough.
Next coming to the camera department, the phone features a 5 MP rear camera which to be honest is just average. The photos taken contains a hell lot of noise and are also bit dull to my liking.Even the camera takes up some time to focus and capture a photo( This is not a lag) .Whereas the front 2 MP camera is a good selfie snapper.
The main highlight about this phone is the performance. The phone houses a 1.3 GHz quad core processor from Mediatek bundled with 1 GB of RAM.It actually impressed me a lot.It could even play high graphic internsive game like GTA SanAndreas, Asphalt 8 without any issues and I dont know what is the miracle behind that. This phone is one of the best gaming phone under 6k or I can even say that this is the best budget gaming phone.
Storage is a little cramped up.This one has got only 4 GB of internal memory and that can be a major problem for many. But you can move many apps to the SD card( upto 32 GB of expandabilty) .
Battery is also good and will last a day for sure. The output fron the speaker is clear and is also quite loudxl
The UI of this phone is stock android just like the Nexus devices. Its very fast, responsive and I have never seen it lagging.
The phone recently got the Marshmallow update( Android M 6.0) which is just awesome.Even some flagship phones are yet to recieve this update while this mini beast has already recieved it.And I think it may even get the next Android OS from Google this year.
So to sum up this phone is definetely a deal breaker with ultra smooth performance( literally), good battery and a great software which is near to the stock android. To the lower side is only the rear camera which you could expect for a sub 6k phone and a limited internal storage. All three Android devices are same to one another and the only change is their branding and a very minor change in the design. This is definitely one of the best entry level phone for me.Hope this review helped you.:)
