Micromax Unite 2 with 8 GB ROMI bought the Mixromax Unite 2 about a month ago after doing a lot of research on some of the best budget Android phones available in the market.
I bought it after going through many reviews and making up my mind as to what I was looking for. I must admit the specs are undoubtedly and undeniably the best for the price it is being offered at.
I know there are a lot of negative reviews on Micromax and mine is going to be among the few that are positive. First let's start with some of the crucial specs available on board.
Processor: Quad Core Mediatek processor clocked at 1.3 Ghz.
ROM: 8 GB.
RAM: 1 GB.
Display: 11.9 cm(4.7 inches) IPS and can play HD movies/videos.
Battery: 2000mAh.
Operating System: Android Kitkat 4.4.
Almost Android One ready: All Google Apps preinstalled with automatic updates.
Camera: 5 mp primary rear and 2 mp front facing with HD video recording.
GPS: Available.
SIM Slots: 1 regular SIM and 2nd nano SIM.
Supports 20 regional languages.
Default Storage Option: Available, you can choose to install apps on your SD card.
App Permission Management: Available.
Pros:
1. Extremely good value for money - 1 GB RAM, 1.3 Ghz Quad Core processor, and 8 GB ROM for a phone between Rs. 6700 - Rs. 6900.
2. Excellent for gaming.
3. 4.7 inch IPS display - great clarity for watching HD movies/videos.
4. Call clarity is good enough.
5. Touch response is smooth.
6. Good battery back-up.
7. App permission management system makes sure no background apps are running without your permission.
8. Choice to install apps directly on to external SD card.
Cons:
1. Does heat up slightly near the camera after gaming for around 10 minutes. However, almost all the phones heat up these days, so that is not odd.
2. Poor quality back panel. I bought the white one and though it has a matte finish, it attracts a lot of dust from sweaty palms, etc.
3. Design could have been a lot more attractive, but given its price point, it is justifiable.
VERDICT: Go for it if you are an avid gamer, like to watch HD movies/videos, are looking for hassle free Wi-Fi net browsing, and basically looking for a phone that does nothing bad, but does almost a bit of everything well, albeit with a killer price tag.
