Yeh race hai koi morning walk toh hai nahin kee dheere chale.
- Says Sharman Joshi in the film. He plays the character of a guy who is living in Mumbai. Toiling everyday to see his dreams come true.
“Life in a .” is probably one of the most easiest script. No rocket science this but making a film out of a very easy script is by all means an onerous task. The job becomes even more tedious if the film is a natural depiction of the trend running within the veins of big cities.
Anurag Basu has put some common sense while making this film and truly this story has been really well told. The script like I said earlier is fantastic. Star cast is a mix of seasoned, fresh, and veteran actors. Music is not pushed into the film and is situational based. Camera skills are fab.
Looks like Basu’s shift from Bhatt to UTV camp has done him some good. Its not just that. Basu has come a long way. A comparison with his soap directing days and “Life in a …” if made will affirm the fact that this movie so far is Basu’s much mature work.
Logic tells me that the easy things are the difficult describe. In this film Basu has gone back to basics. The script because of its simplicity leaves the director to let go of his imagination. As is evident Basu’s imagination takes a giant leap. This is a very good piece of work.
The film moves fast as it is set in a narrative format. Initially I thought its about infidelity as two or three quick scenes show couples “thoking” each other. Soon the essence comes out. It’s a film revolving around many stories. In the end it’s a narration of the city’s changing character.
The movie stars Konkona Sen Sharma, Kay Kay Menon, Shilpa Shetty, Sharman Joshi, Kangana Ranaut, and Irfan Khan. The surprise element is Dharamendra. Except Shilpa Shetty all other actors have played their parts really well. Kangana’s love making scenes with Kay Kay are good and look natural. She looks like a 20 something just out of college. Both Sharman and Shiney have done great work. Both of them show a lot of promise as actors.
Dialogues are too good. Listen to wha Dharam jee says after his love passes away.
It goes something like this.
All our life we run after money. Weare never content with what we have and desire more. But in the end we realize that gred maks us lose what we already have.
Even Irfan Pathan's acting skills are cool.
