I cannot generalize Meru services as yet but after my experience today in Bangalore with this cab service, I am sure I am not using them again!
It was horrific! I called for a cab at whitefield to go to Koramangala. My cab was booked for 2.35pm. I kept getting SMSs on updating and assigning a new driver every few minutes. One driver called at 2.25pm and said he has been assigned to me but he can reach earliest in 40 mins . That would mean a 30 minutes delay but having no other option, I asked him to come.
Thereafter no one showed up until 3pm and still kept getting SMSs some saying no cabs are available and some saying a new driver has been assigned. I was standing stranded on the road . I called up the call centre a few times but the only thing they were trained to say was'we are extremely sorry'. And funnily while I was dialing a 080-44224422, everytime my call would land to Mumbai and they would transfer to Bangalore and something the call would get lost in the transfer.
It was an ordeal. Finally after testing my patience, I called an Ola cab and asked meru to cancel. Interesting its 5.22pm now(on the same day of this incident) and I am still getting updates from Meru and one driver called at 4.40pm saying I have arrived! JUST 2 HR 10 MIN LATE - THAT'S IT! Unbelievable! I could walk and reach Koramangala in that much time you idiot!
I am attaching a series of SMSs from them. I am frustrated . I never ever leave my house depending on any cabs and use my car but with the new age mobile apps and what not, I thought of giving it a try . With Meru, it was my last I am sure!
So watch before you call a Meru and make sure you are willing to wait for a couple of hours:).
