Satire is actually an art. Almost every one of us would have witnessed or made mockery of something or someone. To make people laugh for it and without hurting, is an art. Right from school days I used to imitate my teachers in stage-skits and for some reasons unknown I had an liking for spoofs; of course, only when it is educated enough.
But, every single movie spoofs I have seen has ended up being silly. Usually movie makers can't make a full movie-length parody on one single movie, so they end up stitching incoherent sequences from many movies. Or they are uncreative and in the name of satire they end up making something irritating and silly. I had lost all hopes of seeing one good spoof movie.
However, 'meet the Spartans' was promising. It appeared to rip the movie'300' apart. 300 is a kind of movie which sticks to your heart though you know it is not well made. It has so much artificialness that you can make a parody of every frame of the film. With an unlimited movie pass at my hand, and lots of time to kill over the weekend, it was a triumph of hope over experience - I ended up watching this movie.
As it turned out, this was the worst ever I have seen. Probably the worst ever movie. It was silly, demeaning and even racist. I could not even chuckle(forget laughing) at the sequences. The only reasonable outcome was it made me active from hibernate state here at mouthshut and I come back, at least to tell you to stay away from this movie.
The most enjoyable thing in a spoof it to try and identify with a "yeah, that one" feeling of what is being made mockery of. Explicit references like mention of Borat, etc took away even that. I can speak a little more about the nuisance of this movie, but lesser I say the better. May be if you want to watch Cameran Electra upskirt, or if someone pays you 1000 bucks for watching this movie; No . no, reasons still not convincing enough to watch this one.
