Meenaxi is a film by M.F.hussain.By the name one might expect a story about lady whose is dove eyed! Well the story is of course of lady but not dove eyed lady.

The story I let you know will be in short and contour of story goes like this: whimsical short structured story writer-Raghubir Yadav as Nawab from Hyderabad is confused as to how to proceed his newly written novel which mainly limelights the character `Meenaxi. His is mentally blocked halfway of novel writing. Writer meets Meenaxi that is an attar seller at one of qawwalli sessions. He mesmerized by her. In his mind Tabu as a `Meenaxi' enters as an inspiration. She helps him precede his work of writing the story.He continues his novel in which main character is storied differently in three cities mainly Hyderabad, Jaisalmer, and Prague.That's why its sub title says A TALE OF THREE CITIES!

They have shown woman in three shades in three different cities. Meenaxi assumes different personae. She can be the mysterious perfume trader of Hyderabad, the exotic desert bloom of Jaisalmer and the orphaned Maria of Prague.

There is a clash between an author and inspiration-Meenaxi about the write up. Author wants to have his own write up which Tabu refuses, criticizes, rejects being very bold and individualistic person. In the end character overwhelms the writer and tries to dominants his mind, excludes him. In the end they have shown writer left alone with the choice of his own to complete the novel without inspiration to keep him survived.

The story is as simple as this but well-renowned artist M.F.Hussain's touch has made film's presentations more in artistic manner where in we can feel high level of intellect involved. Here ordinary layman might get confused as story shown is in very indirect manner. The audience might feel shuffled as he keeps the trail of story moving from his imaginations to reality, which really baffles audience as to what he wants to say. He has well painted the curves of women's emotion using the movie as another form of the expression and tried to weave its pattern on silver screen which we have to grasp.This is where he failed to reach the layman! Apart from this loop, I found this movie excellent that can be cherished very much in artistic manner!

Portrayal of Meenaxi in Jaisalmer is so picturesque I was literally enchanted by colors blend on screen. Picturesque scene of this city is well captured in camera The beauty of Jaisalmer is magnificently shown through the arrays of bright colors,The whole movie is very colorful and full of creativity. One can easily sense the artistic mind involved in his depiction through colors... I felt as though M.F.Husain used this film as another form of expression. I find this film as his canvas, on which he painted expressing his abstract imagination enriching us with visual treats. It's almost like a painting in motion.

The start of movie impressed me a lot. In beginning as I started watching the movie I was unaware of its creativity. Tittle of the movie is shown in Times roman (I guess) in Red color, which uniquely stood out. Rarely in Hindi film such impressive unique style of giving tittles you find it!

Expression of an artist is well balanced through colors, words, and photography, acting, music .On each scale I could feel expression done highly creative, imaginative.The visual and aesthetic quality of `Meenaxi' is great. The movie is a vibrant visual treat combined of bright colors and great shots. The whole movie is very colorful and full of creativity. For an off springing artist naturally this movie could be inspiring! The whole film can be watched as his painting through his stroke of imaginations. Symbolically he shown one scene of Maria of Prague sitting with kunnal on one of huge cloth paintings of Taajmahal... needless to say of course painted by him...there is also another scene where in they shown Tabu with her open back lying on resting chair but one doesn't find it vulgar instead her poise loudly speaks her emotions attracting painter to paint it making it as main subject. It helps any artist to expedite himself wildly into this canvas of M.F.Hussain...it proves to be concrete material for any artist to explore himself.

The character of Meenaxi-Inspirations as Hyderabadi allad bindaas lady chewing out paan in typical `Hyderabadi' style is well performed by Tabu! Transformation from one character from Hyderabad-Meenaxi to another in Jaisalmer-Meenakshithereafter to Prague character-Maria. is well performed by Tabu. Here also its again an artistic creative mind involved that could play, enact as well justify each different role played in stretch band of three hours. Tabu in her unique crystal white drape looks just charismatic literally beholding our breadth! She as usual steals our heart by her enigmatic beauty!

Lyrics written by Salem Javeed adds aura to film. Dialogues are also highly philosophically like the way story is. It beautifies the whole movie through the world of WORDS. You can feel two artists blend their work and produce a unique creation that is worth watch.

A.R.Rahemaan has as usual given very good music.

The movie appeals more visually than the story. 'Meenaxi' is definitely not meant to appeal masses. Not one and all will be appealed to watch such movie. Average audience may find the story confusing and totally absurd...so may not find it appealing, may find it boring but its creativity it's so highly ranked (as according to me) that I really feel sorry if unsuccessful.

Well till to date I don't know it's chart on box-office but such movie should be more produced, encouraged and viewed with sensitivity!

It's indeed the canvass painting by M.F.Husain which becomes very memorable immeasurable moments of happiness for me!!!Its just enigmatic!!!! This work should be highly appreciated! HATS OFF TO YOU M.F.HUSSAIN...for your wonderfully, CREATIVELY, PAINTED CANVAS !!!
