I called McAfee and signed up for their McAfee clinic when my computer became infected with the Trojan virus and KAK worm last year. My computer would not let me into any online free virus scan. As soon as the home page of a virus scan site would load my computer would shut down, which is the main characteristic of the Trojan.mtx virus.
First I talked to the purchasing department to purchase a year subscription to McAfee Clinic which I found to be a reasonable price at $24.95 (US dollars). Then I was transferred to the help department. The help department emailed me instructions on how to remove this virus from my computer. The instructions were very detailed and very easy to follow.
I followed the instructions given to me through the email but was still having trouble with my computer so I called back to the help department. This is when we discovered that my computer was infected with the KAK worm also. The workers in the help department of McAfee then emailed me instructions of how to remove this KAK worm. Again the instructions were very detailed and easy to follow. Unfortunately I was still having trouble with my computer.
I then called the help department again and they walked me through every step over the phone until the problem was resolved.
The help department at McAfee was very patient with me and stuck with me until my problem was resolved. After we cleaned my system I installed the virus scan on my computer and set it to check every day if there were any updates of new viruses added to the virus scan so I can keep mine as updated as possible. It is simple to update your virus scan and only takes a few minutes. I scan my whole system at least once a week now, or more often if I download an update.
The only thing with my whole experience with McAfee that I was not impressed with was the wait time on hold. Each time I called them I spent 20 - 30 minutes on hold. I called them 3 times with that one incident and spent about 1 1/2 hours on hold. I really found this rather frustrating and think they need to hire more help so they can take calls in a more timely manner.
