My vacation in Darjeeling is one of the most cherished vacation which I have enjoyed in a long time. Darjeeling was a memorable experience which was further enhanced by the First Class service offered by Mayfair Resort - Darjeeling.
I had visited it during the peak tourist season of May and hence the rates were exorbitant(Rs. 8, 000 per day) however the service, ambience of the hotel and the room, ancillary services were excellent that I felt that the hotel undercharged us.
The hotel was once a summerhouse of Maharaja of Nazargun and hence the room interiors resembles an old British cottage with an air of ARISTOCRATIC feeling. The rooms are decked with a heavy wodden flooring. The rooms are spacious and well done-up and resembles a luxurious semi-suite kinda feel. A grand chimney completes the overall interior look of the room, however the hotel allows chimney to be used in the cold winters of December.
It is equipped with a small gym comprising of 3 treadmills, however do not expect a trainer in the gym. As the hotel has one pool table to cater to the its patrons, it was occupied most of the time. (I wonder if tourists go all the way to Darjeeling only to play pool for most of the day!)
The hotel had organised a local band for a'Bollywood concert' in evening. Though the local singers sang with a'lisp' while rendering a mix of old and new songs the show was thoroughly enjoyable with patrons dancing to the tunes.
Guests at the hotel are treated to lavish, tasty and sumptous English Breakfast and Dinner(I had opted for a breakfast and dinner inclusive package). The restaurants in the hotel provides you with an option for a la carte menu. however the spread and variety of Indian cusine at buffet table is wide enough to ignore the menu.
Staff in the Restaurant, Room service section and front office staff are courteous and prompt in their service.
