There can be no feeling to beat the feeling of Going back in time without being regretful. A classic redone in full color by the producers with the help of Technology by M/S Gold Stone Technologies was recently released first in theatres and now in DVD form.
Mayabazar stars Legends like NT Rama Rao, Akkineni Nageswara Rao, SV Ranga Rao, Savithri, Gummadi among others.The film has songs directed and sung by Late(ever Greatest Telugu film singer) Dr. Ghantasala. The film is directed by KV Reddy and it is a technically brilliant film even though it was made in 1957 when technology was not so advanced. Nagi Reddy and Chakrapani produced this all time classic film.
The film had always been a must watch for any Telugu speaking person. The "colorization" has now made it much more palatable to the younger generation not used to the B/W era.
The colorization was done with commendable accuracy and the sound quality is un-believable.
For starters, the movie story(based on Mahabharata) is slated around the time when the Pandavas lose in "Con gambling" of Sakuni and the marriage of Arjuna's son(Abhimanyu) and *Balarama's Daughter(Sasirekha) was to be performed. One can see the legendary lover boy ANR as Abhimanyu at a very tender age doing unforgettable performance with Savitri. **SVR perhaps has given his carrer best performance as Ghatotkacha(son of Bheemasena).
The story is all about that marriage ofSasirekha and Abhimanyuand the twists and turns that make it possible despite all odds. The performances of all the cast are praiseworthy but those of SV Ranga Rao, Savitri and NTR are in that order un-paralleled.
Kids and younger adults too would enjoy the movie with some guidance from seniors regarding the(grandhika) language used to suit the context.
