Being a Puneri, Bombay aka Mumbai is a relative to us& so does this book make it so real to life. Even if you are not Mumbaikar, the desire to visit the commercial city will make you want to know& discover it.
The book was published when Mumbai was Bombay. A stunning portrait of the megapolis& its people, from high to low society, depth of riots, bomb blasts, underworld connections, night life, vadapav, bollywood& much more in vast, diverse way.
A compelling page turner, I was looking many times back cover to ensure that this was NOT a work of fiction. It took 2.5years research for author.
Maximum of Bombay& its life aptly justify the title. The writer keeps us engrossed.
Valentine's day ban to Mission Kashmir screenplay( writer contribution) to Mafia dons to bar girls to slum issues to political dramas, all speaks us about the biggest Metropolis life. Although in some topics I turned the pages bt it was for very few.
A bit lengthy bt definitely read this book, no wonder it was a Pulitzer Prize finalist.
Happy Reading!
