THE ISLAND OF MAURITIUS
(This review has been edited for a certain group of people, but if you want to read more reviews on the country`s issues, see GOOGLE)
This is one beautiful island, situated on some 580 miles east of Madagascar. It`s in the Indian Ocean. The country`s really great for holidays and is progressing rapidly, both in terms of economy and technology. (Which I like more about Mauritius)
The population is approximately 1.1 to 1.2 million.
There are nine districts in Mauritius, namely: Riviere Du Rempart, Pamplemousses, Port-Louis, Moka, Flacq, Plaines-Wilhems, Savanne, Grand-Port and Black-River.
Right, to start with, Port Louis is the capital city of Mauritius. It`s in the north-west of the island. It is also the most densely-populated district with a total of nearly 145,000 inhabitants. There are also major towns, which are all found in the district of Plaines-Wilhems.
They are (from north to south), Beau-Bassin, Rose-Hill, Quatre-Bornes, Vacoas, Pheonix and Curepipe. Port-Louis is sidelined, as it`s a city.Popular monuments which are a must-visit in Mauritius are the DUTCH Monument at Ferney, Pointe Canon at Mahebourg, the Apravasi Ghat (for the abolition of Indentured Labourers) , and these are just the popular ones.
The beaches of Mauritius is it`s plus-point. Those situated around the north and west coast of the island are very calm and and they are 1st class beaches. There are also many luxurious hotels in these regions. The sea is warm and the sandy beaches are a pleasure to feel.
Some very good beaches in Mauritius are Mon Choisy, Pereybere, Bel Mare, Trou Aux Biches, Le Morne, Blue Bay and Flic En Flac. (Which I think is under preservation by the beach authorities because there are too much abusing going on there... eg, littering or even stealing with violence are cases being reported)
Mauritius is a great place to be, and I hope you`ll like this review.
(Now I realise the fact that my earlier one was a mistake - I have taken the tourism aspect of the country.....sorry for all the harm I could have done unintentionally to some readers) I`ll keep my promise to fill this review with more facts of Mauritius.
