Marvan Attapattu of Srilanka is a very good plyer to watch out for. He is now the Vice Captain of the team and is a very good team member of Srilanka. His early days were tough with five ducks in his first six innings after making his Test debut in 1990/91. He lost his confidence, but the selectors had faith in him and he was picked as a opener in 1996/97.
His record speaks for him alone. In Test Cricket, he has played 57 matches making 3459 runs with 10 100's and 11 50's at an average of 38.86. He also has 38 catches to his name.
In One Day Internationals, he has played 148 matches making 4796 runs with 5 100's and 48 50's at an average of 37.76. He has even taken 43 catches in one day level. Normally, he prefers to bat at NO 3 in One Day's.
Apart from the great career in Test Matches, he has converted five out of his ten Test hundreds into double tons, only 3 people before him has this record, they are Sir Don Bradman who had done 12 times,Wally Hammond(7) and Javed Miandad(6).
He has a great balance and footwork which is ideal to cope up with spinners. That's why he is the best player of spinners in the Srilankan team.
He made his debut in Test Match against India at Chandigarh in 1990/91 and in One Day also against India at Nagpur in 1990/91.
He is now aged 32 and still has lot of years ahead of him. Truly, a great Srilankan player ever produced.
