The Maruti Wagon R has been an excellent buy... we bought our second one.
the space utilized inside the car compared to the car dimensions, at least in my view seems to be the best. What I liked about the car is that they haven't chopped off the back short and one can accommodate a lot of luggage especially if one is shifting base / city.
The car is very stable with no load as well as full load with luggage. Takes very bad roads very well - however does not take small potholes very well and they can be felt in the cabin.
I have taken this car off-road and the suspension does not complain! AC is good but I generally turn it off if I need to accelerate quickly
Wish there was a diesel version of the car - at the moment I get about 14kmpl with ac in city, not to complain but with the petrol prices zooming - a diesel would certainly help.
A bigger tyre set as in the swift would have certainly helped improve ride quality.
One of the few low cost cars which allow for the rear seat to be reclined.
A pillar visibility is an issue if one is travelling through the ghats.
This is the review for the type 1 wagon r (2004) .
Maruti service is good - but could have been better. I usually go to Kalyani motors - which I found to be pretty good and customer friendly as against some others who did not bother - probably since they are already satisfied with the business volume?
The pedals could have been a little lower which would help driving in traffic.
