First Amendment- 27Oct2011
Slowly and steadily, clocked 5000 mark with this new car in 7 months time. Satisfied with my choice for petrol car, as my assumptions till now are accurate. Moreover I had two long drives which will also be part of this editions update.
Long Drives
first long drive was in August, Delhi to Tirthan Valley(HP). Round trip of approx 1300 KMs. The vehicle was fully over-loaded with 4-Adults and 3-Kids and boot with luggage. From vehicle perspective, it was fairly good trip with no issues. Even with slight discomfort, we got adjusted inside it. Boot was very sufficient for two families. Hilly driving was very smooth and manuevering of the vehicle is excellent.
Second long (not-so) drive, Ggn- Chd, 280 Kms. Single family 2-Adults and 2-kids, really comfortable. Kids were playing are rear seat and they both slept as per their wish.
Generic Comfort
Seems driving this car is not that comfortable, when I compare to my earleir cars Indica and Wagon-R. Some issues with the seat as I get back pain even when I cover small distance. This problem could be wiht my sitting posture. as my the co-driver(usually my spouse) never had such problems. Co-passengers on rear seat had good experience as the seats are very comfortable. Other then this, I think this car is best in this class.
Mileage
After first two services, clocking 13+ in city conditions with full 100% AC on, and on highway clocked 18+. My cousing also owns DZire-VXI and they informed that they get 20+. So will have to wait for some more time to see if on highway this machine meets 20+ figure or not.
But overall satisfied with 13 and 18 figure.
By the way, loving its looks now.
Thats all folks. will come back with new experiences.
Original Review-
Looks - Yes, this is they only point where I myself is not 100% convinced. At times, I like the looks of Dzire but then attimes I really hate it. I really believe that Swift looks far better however its extension part(boot) makes Dzire bit odd. But then good looks also has a short life otherwise Sallu shouldn’t have got bored of Ash.
Features & comfort- Vxi is decently loaded with all major required items i.e. Power Steering/power windows/Stereo. The arm-rest on rear seat is really good for elderly people as it gives a great comfort. The rear seat is really very comfortable for long drives. The leg room is also quite good.
My Dzire is equipped with Nippon Stereo. As I am fond of slow music and not of Dhin-chak type, I found Nippon quite good in terms of voice clarity. And since this is company fitted, overall it looks much better then outside fitted system.
Performance - Its performance is accordingly to its 1200 CC engine. I felt some slowness in pickup upto 20kmph however there seems some thurst after that as it then zooms… Not sure if this is as per design? But yes, this CAR is not meant for people, who expects it to be a chotu-Ferrari.
On Mileage, at present not the right person to comment as my Dzire covered on 1100 KMs. However I am sure that at present it is more then 12 kmpl. As informed by the Mechanic, Dzire mileage shoots upto 14-15 after running 4000 kms. I will update…
The Dzire is now with K-Series engine. For me, K-series is a jargon word however one difference I have seens, with K-series you need to go for servicing after 10000 KMs. But Maruti, for some historical reasons, asks customers to visit Service centre after 1000/5000/10000 Kms for first 3 free service. During these three services, actually there is nothing to be done by the service people. They push people for Teflon coat etc… But visiting service centre as per the guidelines is a mandatory process else warranty is at stake.
Space - Good in space. Boot is sufficient for a medium family as it can hold 2 big suitcases and few more cabin bags easily.
Negatives -
Stereo lack USB port.
High boot - blocks view.
Rear head-rest - Blocks the rear-view.
Glove box- What a waste?
