I am again with another review. Its about the wonderful maruti baby RITZ VDI. I sold my alto LXI and planned to buy a diesel vehicle as the prices of petrol is increasing. Another factor is our alto lacks ride quality on bumpy roads. Too much dragging while on AC. I also don't want to keep car in my parking only thinking of price per KM.

To enjoy life, I have decided to go for Diesel car. So only two options left as my budget was tight. Budget was as less as possible(around 5.5 lacs)  Me and my wife finalized the   list of proposed vehicles.

1) Swift VDi;

2) Ritz VDi;

3) Figo TDCi;

4) POLO

5) BEAT Diesel

6) hundai  I 20

Figo was ruled out because of worst service experiences. (figo is ford’s alto)My brother in law owns a ford figo.

I 20 was over priced . we can’t afford its price. POLO was very good car. But I could get a feedback from my friends circle.

We have short listed Beat Diesel, Swift and Ritz. Booking period of Swift was too much and I want to buy the car before budget. Then the war was between beat and Ritz. I have checked with owners of beat diesel.  Surprisingly I got a bad reviews about beat. Car is not delivering driving comfort on bumpy roads. And poor pick up. When I googled deedi motors . I got many complaints against them. Finally my family advised me to stay with  maruti family only. Because my ownership experience and service experience was awesome.

(my service partner since last 6 years was Sarathy auto cars,

  1. BUYING EXPERIENCE:

Finally I decided Indus motors (kavnad)  was where I purchased the car. All the PDI was done day before by me as by the checklist available at Team – BHP. Before signing the papers I had a thorough look at the car and checked the odometer reading which was 86 kms ( their main dealership town was 70 kms away from my city). It was clean, shining. I took snaps from various angles. Vehicle was perfect. I signed the documents . it was a memorable day. I went temple and paid for the poojas. Returned to home and took a short drive with my wife son and mom. Everybody was happy about because it was more spacious and comfortable than my alto.

I didn’t got any accessories as free. The payment details are as follows

total money spend is rs 630157

I would like to give a big clap to Sales team of indus. They have delivered a perfect vehicle for me. But I strongly advice my friends to stay away from Indus (pevees group). They lack the professionalism. I will share few examples to make my point more clear/Hope this would help other prospective buyers take better decisions in a new Maruti Car purchase....

1) they had chaged 2000 + 1200 for pdi and registration handling charges ( which is rs 700 higher than sarathy). Top officials of indus are not customtakeouter friendly. They don’t know even to handle a middle class customtakeouter like me. This is the reason why maruti falls in C and D segments.

  1. LIFE WITH THE RITZ TILL DATE:

It has been almost 6 month since purchase and has travelled 5000 kms till date. Love the diesel engine (thanks to & Fiat for such a gem). This car is a wonderful creation from Maruti

Looks department:

The car looks refreshing and is having a different kind of appeal. front end looks little resembling from an Audi. Large grills with the Suzuki logo look imposing and neat. Coming to rear end it is not appealing like front. I have fixed audi grill and mat finish black stickers to get a different look.

Interiors

I think Ritz is having best dash board design compared to maruti vehicles.water fall design of dashboard looks good. Seats are just above average. Plastics parts are not cheap quality. Over all looks are good and placement of tachometer placement is sporty.

Seating

I will give 100 % mark to maruti for its seating. It gives a superior feeling like SUV. Better drivability and confidence great seating position. Front seats are very spacious and airy.rear seats are also good provides very good comfort to rear seat passengers. Maruti could have provided more storage space in rear area. Cup holders etc…

Space

The cabin is roomy and has a lot of space when compared to alto. Boot space is average and the provision for a boot light is missing The dashboard is large it feels that the bottom part of the windscreen is too far and gives a feel of a BIG car. Legroom the front is not an issue. Spaces for storage are very good and lots of points ergonomchandru021y given. Windows and both the windscreens being large it gives a brighter look and visibility is the best. Since the gear lever is attached to the dashboard the space generated is utilized properly and gives a sense of spaciousness.

Engine

Coming to heart of the car, the 1.3 DDiS is a class act with 190Nm of torque to play. This is the best part of the whole car. Maruti have done a good job in tuning it and making this such a beauty. The pick and engine smoothness is excellent for me. I couldn’t sense any turbo lag issues as I my prev car is 800 cc alto. I want to give a big clap to fiat for designing such a wonderful engine and maruti for great tuning . really I feel delighted.

Gearbox

The gear lever in the alto used to shake like the ones of RTC bus which is not seen in the Ritz. Short, slick and precise shifts. It just doesn’t shift false with the shift gates being nicely designed. The gear lever is nice to hold and fits nicely in the palm and placed very comfortably. I love resting my hand on the gear lever though I know it’s a bad habit and I’m trying to get rid of that habit. Cruising at 80 – 100kmph is pretty effortless and doesn’t give a feeling of the engine getting strained.

Brakes

breaking is not up to mark. Breaking is effective @ low speeds but I am not getting confidence in high speeds.( altos breaking was okay for me). I don’t know may be a problem with breaking system. It is giving same feel always. Something is missing.

Handling

I’m impressed the way this car handles itself on corners and on emergency maneuvers. Rear visibility is very very poor. Thick C pillar is obstructing the rear corner visibility. I have installed a parking assistant for solving the visibility issue.

Ride

It rides very well when seated in the front. The ride is felt harsh when sitting at the rear. All the road undulations are clearly felt at the rear. The car doesn’t jump or bounce if taken at high speeds over any pothole but makes ‘THUD’ sound if the speed is too . it is not making rattling like my prev alto. I feel it is strong.

Fuel Efficiency

The whole and sole reason that got me to this car is the mileage that I’m getting.( initially lowest mileage was 15 and after 3000 kms lwest mileage was 17. presently  Within the city (Bumper-2-Bumper traffic) I get around 17 to 18.5 kmpl after . On the highway it stretches to about 20-21kmpl. Cruising at 80kmph @ 1900rpm is best for me as well as the mileage point of view.

Top Speed:

The highest I have touched this car is at 100kmph on the ORR near. My car clocked 5000 kms till date

Hope this would help other prospective buyers take better decisions in a new Maruti Car purchase....
