I went with full family to see the Ignis at Nexa South showroom in Thane, the day it was launched. Though pricing was not available at that time, the design of the car blew us, coupled with booking amount of Rs. 11, 000 and a promise of 100% refund, if cancelled by a specific date made us book the car immediately. Cars were available for display at that time but not for test drive.
As pricing of the car was released, I found the car bit too expensive and had thoughts to cancelling it, but due to limited options available for a high seating car, in this price bracket, we decided to continue with our decision to purchase. The car was delivered to me in April 2017 and it surely is a fun car to drive.
In this review I will focus on wow factors and dampners in this review, since a lot has already been said about the features of the car. My earlier car was a Wagon R VXI, so somewhere that might come in as a benchmark for comparison.
The car seems to be smaller than wagon R at outside, but we feel there is more room inside. More leg space for rear passengers and more comfortable for 3 to seat in rear seat. The boot of the car is bigger than wagon r though loading lip is deep. Lowering the rear 60:40 passenger seat does not give a flat surface to put your luggage.
I found the power from it's 1200 cc engine adequate & exciting. The pickup, ability to handle potholes, speed breakers is remarkable. Overall a highly pleasurable drive. I have driven it on expressways and have not been able to floor the accelerator. The car runs planted to the road and is lesser affected by crosswinds than Wagon R. I am completely satisfied with the performance of ABS.
I love the feature of key-less entry and push button start in this car.
Some of the areas where this "Yeh dil mange more" are:
There is no height adjustment for driver's seat.
We CANNOT get inbuilt GPS navigation even if we decide to change the music system with an authorized accessory sold by an authorized Maruti dealer.
Map my India has not been able to confirm it's after market music system with built in GPS navigation will be adequately operational with steering controls of this car.
This car is equipped with rear parking sensors but they do not come with any kind of visual information. You are left guessing the location of the obstruction since beeping sound does not tell the direction of the obstruction.
Another major drawback is location of the side sensors. These are located a bit too much on the side and give a warning even after you have passed the obstruction or there is adequate room for the car to pass the so called obstruction.
Finally the most important information, everyone craves for: "Yeh deti kitna hai"
My daily run to office and back is about 80 KMs. during peak hours, but substantial share is on highway at a speed of about 50-60 KM/H and on freeway at a speed of about 80-90 KM/H during traffic hours. Expect an average of 16.7 KMPL on this route with lots of traffic snarls, one way taking more than 1 and half hour with 100% AC on. On Highway, it returned 18.3 KMPL to Lonavala and back with full occupancy and luggage with AC switched off and windows rolled down.

Overall a nice car.
