I've purchased an Alto LXI, in November 2005. Initially the car felt good to drive, maybe because it was my first car which I was driving and also coz it was new.. Well, I started to feel the pinch when we decided for family outings, friends get-togerthers, where 5 healthy adults had to be adjusted (shoved!) in the car! The problem arises when the A/C is running, the car becomes difficult to drive. You need to really stomp the gas pedal down if u want to move off a signal and similarly when u are over-taking. Though it would be unfair to critisice the car so much, sine the power which it develops in 800cc is commendable, still, geeks like me like to expect more out of it!!
Driving in city with maybe one or two + driver is pleasant, the car is very easy to park, be it reversing or aligning in a mall parking.. she's slim and small, fits anywhere. The mileage is another plus point, I keep driving from Mumbai to Pune, the highway mileage it returns is whooping 22-23kmpl, (Speed Petrol, air pressure as recommended, 30psi, without A/C.).The city stint ain't bad either, with 18kmpl, and 13-14 with A/C powered on.Useful car, with decent boot space, and yes, it can carry a 29" TV provided you shove it from behind and fold the rear seat! And yes, the TV should be unpacked first!! ie; minus the thermocol and the outer brown cover!! I tried it and nearly managed to topple the TV, it still worked for me!! The rear leg room is a let down, with a healthy adult barely able to keep their feet together.. Overall a good utilitarian car.. am happy.. no complaints, very reliable, engine ie, ergonomically its sick, cheap plastics, like rear bumper, dash etc.Hope u guys found what u were looking for!Sidd
