Jane Austen as everybody knows wrote pride and prejudice and many other beautiful novels. Mansfield park was my first Jane Austen and my fourth classic. The book was published in 1814 and so the story is set according to those times. The only problem I faced while reading was the vast vocabulary and some outdated words because of which I lost concentration here and there, but then that happened because I am not used to reading classics. But after reading this I have become a fan of classics. You don't get this kind of character description, situation description so vivid so as to make you a part of it. Jane Austen writes beautifully and with a few initial hitches you will get a hang of the book and will love it.
Once you get the characters right (Lady Bertram, Mrs. Norris, Fanny Price, Edmund etc), you will like the story for its simplicity and the emotional journey on which it takes you. The story is about a young Fanny who comes and stays with her relatives and tries to fit in, her reluctance and shyness keeps her distant but she grows fond of Edmund who treats her nicely but he is attracted to MS.Crawford and Fanny is jealous but she cannot reveal her feelings. The story is about struggle, love and will take you on time machine and travel you back in time. I didn't have much experience in classical reading and so faced problems with spellings and got confused in characters but after reading 20 pages or so it was a magical journey.
Now I am looking forward to reading some more Jane Austen and I even read a few classics after reading this. So, you should go and buy this one because it's a good read and you should not miss it.
Happy Reading :)
