This time I don’t want to appear prejudiced. It is a fact that Himesh Reshammiya disgusts me more than anything in this whole world but then it is not good to put a deaf ear to whatever he sings. So in order to test my genuine nature will give an effort to rate his latest work (Radio). Without wasting a second will pen down my first reactions to all the songs of the album “Mann Ka Radio”.
Mann ka Radio: I swear it is hard to believe that HR is singing when the songs starts but then suddenly he tries to behave like some classical singer and there he gets caught. Lyrics are absolutely ridiculous. Suddenly he sings a line “FULLTOO ATTITUDE DE DE TU ZARA”. What on earth was the lyricist thinking when he wrote “BAND JO BAJE TERA, KHUL KE TU SAATH GA, DARD BHI BANE DAWA, FUNDA HAI YE LIFE KA”? I had burst in laughter which even resulted in some tears. “BAND BAJEGA” then who will sing???
Zindagi jaise ek Radio: The purely Gujrati Punjabi inflection of HR. I hope everyone will send a plea to the music company in order to stop including this song in the next lot of the album. I need to change the song as can’t listen to it more so no more further elaboration of my feelings about this song. In a word “wretched”.
Janeman: Sounding good till now. First line is catchy as well as meaning full. Great going HR! No nasal effect till the first stanza and the lyricist has behaved in a very decent manner till now. Soft score and easy going. Shreya Ghosal suddenly steals away all the credit with her charming voice. Good 4 minutes song.
Pyar jaise ladoo motichur waale: Oh! Gosh, the song starts with a minute of shehnai waadan. Seems like I am attending a marriage. Suddenly the music changes and a lady sing few lines with a U.P. accent. HR has definitely improved a lot. He is actually singing and not screaming in any of the songs. My perception of hearing acclaims this song too and even can feel the emotions. HR, Respect MAN!!!
Koi Na koi Cahe: This was what I eagerly waited for. For HR to scream and include his nose in his singing. Slow number and very irritating, you want the song to end as soon as it reaches its first stanza. There is some problem with the melody in here which is not at all appealing. Not bad, but certainly not good.
Teri Meri Dosti ka Aasman: Why was piano present at the commencement when HR decided to actually scream? Shreya Ghosal is again sweet and the sonata is tuneful. On the whole a nice number when HR’s screams are uninvolved.
Shaam ho chali hai: HR trying to add sugar to his voice. Is he trying to compete with Shreya? One time listening types. Does not really impress.
Rafa Dafa kiya nahin jaye: Is he singing in Hindi? Very difficult to understand what he sings. He suddenly has pacified his voice to such an extent that the lyrics are becoming inaudible. I am wordless now. A mediocre song again.
There are three more songs, remixes of above songs. It was definitely not hard to listen through the album but something is still missing. HR, I will still advice you to stop singing and concentrate on composing.
About the album, the songs are basically soothing, gajal types. It will increase HR’s fan following for sure and few like me will stop criticizing everything he does.
