A Real Entertainer. Review on Manmadhan Ambu Movie

Kamal Haasan and K.S Ravikumar combination has given many hit movies in the past. Again these two has given a perfect entertainer “MANMATHA AMBU”. After 7 years Madhavan is back with Kamal Haasan in this movie.

Madhavan (Madanagopal) is a rich business man who is in love with Trisha (Ambujakshi/Nisha) a famous actress in Tamil industry. One day Madhavan along with his mom (Usha Udup) visits Trisha on the shooting spot in Kodaikanal where they were shooting a song sequence with actor Surya.

By seeing Trisha with Surya, Madhavan suspects her. Madhavan gifts her with a new Hummer in the shooting spot. Trisha goes for a drive with Madhavan and meets with an accident by banging into another car coming in the opposite direction. Somehow Madhavan bribes the police and escapes from the accident.

Meanwhile Trisha is disturbed by the Madhavan’s suspicious act and decides to go for a European cruise along with her childhood friend Deepa (Sangeeta) who is divorced with two kids. Meanwhile Madhavan who is suspicious about her, arranges a private detective Major Mannar (Kamal Haasan) to spy on her.

Kamal Hassan learns that Trisha is innocent and reports to Madhavan. He is happy but refuses to settle the payment for Kamal Hassan.

Kamal Hassan has to take care of his close friend’s medical expenses who is undergoing treatment for cancer. So Kamal makes a new story to get money from Madhavan that Trisha has a secret lover.

Meanwhile Kamal introduces him as a tourist to Trisha and Sangeeta and become close to her. Kamal says to Madhavan that Trisha is good but the guy is bad.

But Madhavan does not want to hear anything and decides to break up with Trisha. At one point Trisha learns that accident caused by herself in Kodaikanal, killed Kamal Hassan’s wife. So both Kamal Hassan and Trisha decides to confess each other the truth.

But Trisha misunderstands that another guy Kurup the producer who is behind her for dates is the spy. So she says to Kurup that she loves Mannar.

Suddenly Madhavan tells Kamal that he will meet all of them in Venice. So Kamal and Deepa plans to seperate Madhavan and Trisha.

The serious of scenes and incidents at the end are uproarious. Finally Madhavan arrives and realizes that Trisha has fallen in love with Kamal.

Kamal Hassan appears in the scene after half an hour but steals the show with his acting. Madhavan as a suspicious lover acts with ease. Especially the scenes in the bar with his friends are awesome.

Trisha, Urvasi and Ramesh have done their role very well. Deepa along with her kids done a good job. Kujan and Manju pillai as producers behind Trisha for dates were fantastic. Oviya as madhavan’s cousin dint make any impact.

Mohammed and Manush had made a good impression in editing and cinematography in their first movie. The Neelavanam song was completely shot in reverse mode showing Kamal Haasan’s life with the French lady is touching. Devi Prasad’s music was perfect.

Then the main thing is no extraordinary fights, no item girl dances, no opening songs praising hero, no punch dialogues, no villain with hundreds of gundas it’s a real entertainer-go and watch it.
