Around 5 hours driving distance from kolkata, Mandarmani has been a favourite tourist spot for decades. People usually visits the place with family and/or friends. Also, if when the young populace tries some adventure beyond the social and moral boundaries.
I visited the place recently(in October 2019) with friends and found the road conditions pathetic after chaulkhola. We put up in hotel ADB Kanvas and the road towards the entry point practically does not exist.
In the evening we came out to see sunset hoping to experience the breathtaking view of pink and red sunlight reflections on the sea-wave; but it was low tide and sea water was far off from the shore. Sea shore was pretty dirty with used bottles, chips packets etc. Disgusting - to say the minimum. There were few shacks who offered tea, coconut water etc. They were also okay with cooked chicken if ordered. However, could not find any shop that sells products made of sea shell.
In night it was high tide and a little bit better.
