''Stabbed Beck in the back'', yes that's what I feel Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson did to English captain by selling him to Spanish Champs Real Madrid. Before the official transfer everybody felt that Beck's move to Real was just a rumor.... even Sir Alex Ferguson admitted that the chances of Beckham leaving the club were very seldom and that it was all a Real's plan to distract the attention of the English Club's players from concentrating on the big Champion's League quarter finals at home ground. The curtain was not yet raised till the end of the English Premier League final standings...and suddenly one morning the news papers are filled with the news that the player who lead England in the World Cup and even represented the club for quite some time is leaving for the Spain.

Sir Alex Ferguson seemed quite adamant about his decision and soon the official announcement and signing the contract were done. Manchester United was all about David Beckham till now and I feel it's a pretty big loss to the red team. Beckham is undoubtedly one of the best mid-fielders I the current world football...he proved the same by scoring 2 against his now club in the 5-3 victory by his former club. None of the players from United are as popular as Beck.... no doubt that they are good team but sometimes it is Beckham they rely on for that injection of inspiration.... for e.g. Beck scored an important equalizer against Charlton (i m not sure if it was the club I mentioned) but time and again HE has come to rescue his club in crises. Real as such during the controversy at the time of the Champions League quarters stated that they don't need Beck coz they already have the best mid-fielder in the world Luis Figo...yes the Portuguese international who missed a hell lot of chances to score in the Champion League semi's against Jueventus...I guess the managers of both the team already had planed the move long ago and were waiting for the right time to bring it into effect.

Sir Alex Ferguson made Beckham from the star of his team to one of the stars in the already high profiled and the best club in the world. The Beckham transfer does brings good money for Man Untd but at the same time brings a loss of a player who has the potential of turning the matches just by his free kicks and long perfect passes. Being with Ronaldo, Zidan, Raul, Figo, Roberto Carlos and many others is going to affect Beck's image but hopefully his game will become even more perfect. There maybe a slight possibility of Sir Alex Ferguson realizing his mistake now but he will definitely regret this when he sees Beck drive Real to new heights of success or even when next time the giant clubs meet again. Maybe this time the score line will be Man Untd - 0 Real Madrid - 5 or 6?
