Mahadev's city Kashi and Man Mahal situated on the banks of holy Ganges, which was built by Raja Man Singh of Amer in 1600 AD, which is now protected as a heritage by the National Archaeological Department.
Man Singh Observatory is famous as a masonry observatory. The astronomical observatory consists of many major geometric devices for measuring time, preparing the lunar and solar calendar and, for observing the positions of stars, planets and other heavenly bodies. Prime instruments within the observatory are the Samrat Yantra, the Digamsa Yantra, the Nadivalaya Yantra, the Chakra Yantra and Dakshinottara Bhitti Yantra.
The hall and three rooms of the building below the observatory have now been made a virtual museum at a cost of Rs 11.01 crore, this virtual museum was built by the National Council of Science Museums, in which 12 projectors have been installed, the walls of the building are prepared like this. It has been done that the religious, cultural and mythological heritage of Kashi can be shown through the projector, so that the tourists can get acquainted with the culture of Kashi.
This museum was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, there will be a statue of Lord Shiva at the entrance of this museum, where flowers will be showered on Lord Shiva playing the bell, and Kashi's Ghats, temples, abuses, Ramlila of Ram Nagar, Nati Tamarind's Bharat Milap, Nag Nathhaiya of Tulsi Ghat, art of sari weaving, wood art, Ganga Aarti will be shown, information about Kashi's literature etc. is given in both Hindi and English along with the journalism of Kashi!
The responsibility of filming of the culture department has been given to leading producers and directors like Pankaj Parashar and Siddharth Rai. The filming of the film to be played on the projector is also in the final stages. Dr. Neeraj Sinha, Deputy Director, Department of Archeology says that this virtual museum will be the only one of its kind in the country. It will showcase the art, religion and culture of Kashi.
