It is magical to see this Broadway play turned into a movie, keeping its essence intact. Okay, lets first look at the story. A woman (Donna) in love with three men gets pregnant and gives birth to a girl. Around twenty years after that the young girl is all set to marry her boyfriend, but the only thing she wants is to know her father.
She accidentally finds her mother's diary and gets to know about all the three men she dated. Now, the drama begins. She writes to them and invites them for her wedding. What happens now, who is the father and after all these years is the father ready to accept the young girl and her mother into his life, is what proceeds.
Meryl Streep is a charmer and she sings like a dream. Is there anything this woman can't do! I wonder most of the time. Her two friends include Christine Baranski and Julie Walters. While the three men who Donna dated are - Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth and Stellan Skarsgård.
They act well and have showcased immense potential in the field of cinema, but what brings viewers to the cinema hall is this movie's music. All the hit tracks of Abba.
Starting from Honey, honey and ending with 'I have a dream', this movie is no less a fairy tale.
Mamma Mia here I go again, Dancing queen, SOS, Does your mother know, Chiquitita and not to forget the beautiful song 'winner takes it all, are all present in the movie.
Movie set in Greek island is a visual treat. I actually didn't bother about who the father was, this movie doesn't need a story line, the songs are enough to tell the entire story.
So takes your family and kids along to see this movie. It may not be the gem in the musical genre but it will, for sure, leave you an upbeat mood and a smile on your face.
