When I started writing this review, I was in a great dilemma whether to recommend this movie or not. But eventually I thought its watchable once or twice………so it was fortunate.NOTE:I am here just going to elaborate what I felt strongly about it or you can say the only cons which I found in it. So its not going to be a much long review. For a detailed story and much more about it refer to muneeb’s review on the same topic. It has been very well directed by Jahnu Barua and produced by one of the Protagonists Anupam Kher. They wanted to give a social message through this film. And for which they crafted a very good story. But as the story was reaching its end, they just killed it for the sake of that message. Actually, I think, the base of the story itself is a bit weak and a bit on the impractical side. A father saw his son throwing an arrow on gandhiji’s photo and on the same day gandhiji died unfortunately. He was so much disillusioned by that event, he refused to see his son’s face since then. He didn’t even care to hear him for once. Prof. Uttam Chaudhary was blamed for gandhiji’s death by his father. Can this happen? Yeah, of course it can. Afterall it’s a Hindi movie. STORY IN BRIEF: Now let me take you inside the facts of the story. Anupam Kher aka Prof. Uttam Chaudhary is suffering from a horrible disease. Slowly he is forgetting everything from his son’s identity to his favourite poem. And suddenly what happened he started telling ‘Maine Gandhi Ko Nahi Mara’. That scene where he echoed this phrase for the first time was a fabulous work by both cinematographer and the director. Anupam kher, under the bed, grasping a file with smokes surrounding him, was looking as a small child pleading for his innocence.. After that Anupam Kher started believing that he was living in a jail, not in his house. It became a strange mystery in front of Urmila aka Trisha and other ones to solve. Then after collecting each and every informations and facts, the doctor (parvin Dabas) came up with an idea of staging a court room drama where emphasis was put on proving A.kher innocent. Everybody was against the plan and the doctor himself said that its just an experiment. Means something extra-ordinary have to be shown there. Something unique, something strong, something far from people’s imagination. How dare they failed there? If that message was much important to them then the story should have been designed like that. But when they have already crafted such a fine story, it should have been given the ending what it deserves to get.ACTING: everybody were splendid in their work. Probably comparable with that of Mr. Debraj Sahay and the little Michelle. Urmila particularly was fabulous. All the other characters Ronu aka Byomkesh Babu aka Rajit Kapoor, Addy, Boman Irani, Waheeda Rahman, Prem Chopra etc. were true to their character.
