I really , really wanted to enjoy this movie . Knowing Sooraj R Barjatya from previous movies ( MPK, HAHK HSSH) , I knew that this would be high on melodrama, mushy emotions and overused clichés . But at least it would have proper direction and be enjoyable to watch . I soon found out how wrong I really was .
The story is basically a love triangle ( what a new and exciting concept !) So chances are that even before you have seen the movie , you’ll have guessed the outcome . Okay , that’s bearable . If properly executed , even a stale idea can be made into something watch able . Alas, this is not the case with this movie .
The first half of the movie is TERRIBLE . I don’t know how I managed to get through it . It seems that like Fidel Castro or Saddam Hussein , Mr.Sooraj seems to be living in his own dream world where anything goes . What is wrong with him ? The college , lifestyle , clothes seem to have come straight out of an Archie comic , not a small , picturesque Indian town. Remember the college from KKHH ?? Well , think of this as KKHH Redux . How disillusioned can u get ? Add to that the micro-skirts , Alfa Romeos , etc and you will get the general Idea of what I am talking about .
Next , the feeble attempts to disguise Switzerland as Sundernagar . Personally , I feel that this is the biggest mistake that the director has made ( apart from making the film ) . I know of no Indian town with a coastline , and snow-capped mountains in the same vicinity .Alas , he seems to have fallen to the YAK theory ( Yash , aditiya , Karan) the it is the foreign locales that make a film work .
The worst part about the movie is the acting in the first half . If you were to look up ''overacting '' in a good dictionary , you would probably find a picture of Kareena next to it . God only knows what orders the director gave her . Everyone else also overacts , but not to the same extent as kareena .
The comedy parts of the movie , though numerous are mostly third-rate. Only a few scenes really made me laugh at all . The others were what can best be described as ''corny '' .
The second half after the Interval wasn’t so bad though . I actually enjoyed it after the second half . More toned down , less extravagant . This is what the film should have been like throughout . Abisheik's acting was okay . Even Kareena and Hritik seemed to have gone through some acting crash-course in the second half . You couldn’t ask for a more typical ending , but hey, at it got over .
The music of the film is okay , but nothing to get too excited about .
I feel that if Mr. Sooraj had stuck to making a good movie instead of a tourist brochure for Switzerland , he would have gotten a much better product . Alas , he will have to learn that the hard way.
