Well , let me tell u folks about my date with a CAR (SUV) which has been declared Car of the year 2002-2003 by BS motoring and BBC wheels and other motoring media's , magazines. This car im taking about is the MAHINDRA SCORPIO- yes ''Nothing Else Will Do'' as the Mahindra AD's say.Im not gona go blah blah about the company or anything else but will just tell you folks about my date with this car.

Well it was a sunny day in May and I had to get my Honda ACTIVA serviced. So I went to the service station in Chembur only to discover I had to waste my whole day there. To make the best of it I walked into the Mahindra Scorpio showroom which was just next door. Now time for the First impressions at this showroom:

I enter the showroom at about 10:20 am , the security guard gave a big smile at me maybe cause I was the first person of the day to enter the showroom. Its was a nice big decent showroom(Pilot Wheels Mahindra showroom). Well off I went and I had to ask the lady at the reception for someone to furnish me the details about this car. So immediately a saleswoman confronted me with the details.Blah blah she started 2600cc turbo charged, etc etc. Then I asked her in what way it scores over Toyota Qualis, she replied with '' the pick up is better, the ride quality is better..blah blah'' . She then handed me ova the brochures and price lists and she asked me in how long im gona make a purchase...i poped out to her maybe in a months time(when actually as of now I have no need For a utility vehicle, cos my sedan car is good enough). Since She said the pick up of the Scorpio is better than the Qualis I insisted she gives me a test ride of the vehicle to justify her statement. She was very happy to do so. Well folks I have already driven a Scorpio(diesel) before(a friends one) but ive neva tried the Petrol one. After checking with her assistants she tells me that the Diesel Scorpio is not available for test now cause its in the workshop. So I told her ill be back at 3:30 pm if she can give me a test ride at that time..and she complied with yea both petrol and diesel scorpios will be available for test drive at that time. So I was like Cool il be there at that time..and off I went cause I had to go somewhere else.

I was back at 3:30pm for the test drive(date)...and A BIG BLUE petrol scorpio with roof rails and the works was staring at me waiting for a test drive. .. off we went the driver and the saleswoman and me.The driver handed me ova the keys.. I ''WALKED'' into the drivers seat and poped in the keys...started it and I could barely hear the engine.Rolled up the glasses(power) and put on the AC and this car was as silent as a Japanese sedan. Slotted first gear and growl the engine took off...but wait...this steering wheel....WATS WITH THIS STEERING Wheel...itS SOO light ..for a second I thought I was driving a Japanese sedan..and then onto the Chembur highways and big roads... I WAS literally killing this animal..and the driver seated behind me was actually encouraging me to do more... On the highways I was overtaking like crazy with this animal.. the pick up was just like a Japanese sedan car...boy OH boy I had the drive of my life....

Final Conclusions:

AFTER DRIVING THIS CAR-- my next car has to be a SCORPIO--NOTHING ELSE WILL DO.

THE POWER STEERING--Well its available in all scorpio models and the sales woman told me its electronic power steering..i loved it totally..just like driving a Japanese sedan car.

PETROL SCORPIO: This is a expensive car to run, cause its a petrol guzzeler but its very silent(low NVH levels) and has amazing pick up just like driving a japanese sedan.

PRICE: Scorpio has no discounts at all...YES NO DISCOUNTS you have to pay full ex-showroom price plus watever extra...7.80 for the petrol one which is loaded with the works and 7.40 for the diesel deluxe one with Mumbai registrations.

SCORPIO: Well the car is really comfortable inside, I dont think there is less space inside, the AC is 2 ton capacity according to the sales woman's words and top speed is 160 according to the saleswoman. The overall drive quality is AMAZING,the car is heavy though weighs about 1920 kgs, but very easy to drive.Mileage in diesel version is 9 in city with ac and 11-12 on highway, and in petrol the mileage is 6-7 AC in the city and 9 -10 highway.

THE TEST CAR: The test car was 38,000 kms old and the speedo meter seemed to be not functioning properly, everything else was good though. The AC was more like a fridge.

SCORPIO AND OTHERS:In terms of racing and speeding.. the Scorpio will beat the Safari and Qualis in their pants very badly.Scorpio is also cheaper and looks cool too.

MAHINDRA SERVICE: Well I must admit, I dont think Mahindra Scorpio customers will get the Maruti style customer service, but can be assured the spares will be cheap,At the Scorpio outlet where I went, the sales person wasnt eager to sell the product..wonder wat after sales they will offer..???.The waiting time also is pretty high.

ENDING WORDS: I feel a Scorpio is a HIGHLY RECOMMENDABLE car, easy to drive and park, decent diesel average and good price considering features. My purpose of visit to the showroom was just to kill time,as there is nothing much you can do in Chembur. Mahindra is a reliable brand and their spares will be moderately priced. This car is definetly on my cards when I buy a new car..as of now im happy wit my MPFI sedan car.

P.S. : I HAVE PURPOSELY NOT MENTIONED THE SPEC's CAUSE THAT IS EASILY AVAILABLE ANY WHERE:ALSO IVE NT GONE INTO LOOKS COS EVERYONE HAS SEEN THIS CAR ON THE ROAD OR ON TV/NEWSPAPERS.Go to https://mahindrascorpio.com ...All about the making of the car and everything else is available there..i just wanted to share my experience about this car in my review.
