Mr. M.N. Bhatnagar(my dad) was a patient in Mahatma Gandhi hospital, Sitapura, Jaipur, Rajasthan, and was undergone oral cancer treatment.
Once diagnosed that he has oral cancer, we consulted in Mahatma Gandhi hospital on 31/07/2020. It comes out that Mr. Bhatnagar got oral cancer due to a dental implant that happened at Mahatma Gandhi hospital a couple of years back, and regular cheek biting was the leading cause.
As suggested, he had gone through an operation on 14/08/2020 by Dr. Dinesh Yadav, which went fine.
Dr. Dinesh referred Dr. Sumit Goyal for further treatment, which was 30 radiotherapy sessions and five chemo sessions. As Dr. Sumit went through covid treatment himself and his lung was still infected, he referred Dr. Shikha Dhal for radiotherapy.
During whole radiotherapy sessions and chemotherapy sessions, doctors were not present and were done by assistants only.
Mr. M.N. Bhatnagar never felt better after 20 radiotherapy sessions and the fourth chemo sessions. Finally, after more than 25 radiotherapy sessions and five chemo sessions, he felt so sick that we insisted on admitting him into ICU on 25/10/2020 but got released the same day as doctors assured us that everything is fine. During all these sessions, doctors were not that supportive, and we felt that they're not taking good care of him.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Indu Bhatnagar(wife of Mr. M.N. Bhatnagar) always raised the concern whenever he was sick but got little support from doctors.
We feel that on 25/10/2020 if doctors have checked him thoroughly and gone for a CT scan, they should've found a lung infection and can be treated further, but due to negligence, they ignored it.
Throughout the treatment, he was covid -ve.
Dr. Shikha Dahl completed Mr. Bhatnagar's oral cancer treatment on 28/10/2020. Mr. Bhatnagar never has gone through speech therapy and swallow therapy as a follow-up treatment, even if he has a speaking and swallowing problem. Doctors found an easy solution to feed him with a feeding tube, which ultimately became one reason for a lung infection.
As his situation deteriorated day by day, Mrs. Indu Bhatnagar tried to reach doctors for more support, but they ignored and have given minimal assistance. Even last few days, they stopped interacting and not taking calls.
On 12/11/2020, his situation deteriorated a lot, and we were trying to get ICU but again not gained much support from the doctors who are treating him. They suggested going for a CT scan and covid test.
Covid test again came -ve, but he got admitted in covid ICU of Mahatma Gandhi hospital due to lung infection.
Even if he is undergoing treatment, Mrs. Indu Bhatnagar was on his own to get him admitted and not got any kind of support from Dr. Shikha Dhal and Sumit Goyal. They didn't pick the call also.
Late night on 12/11/2020, he got admitted to ICU, and the next morning(13/11/2020), he passed away at around 11:30 am.
Before undergoing treatment, he was a perfectly healthy person, and we can't believe he'll leave us so soon.
We want to register our complaint as we think there was medical negligence from doctors and that future patients can be saved.
