Storyline:

Subhash Kapoor is back with yet another season of the Maharani series that proves itself to be a worthy addition to the genre of political thriller drama.

The story stems from the previous seasons where the lead character Rani Bharti, fiercely portrayed by Huma Qureshi is sent to prison for three years after being found guilty in court of her husband’s murder and struggles to prove herself innocent and restore the image and reputation of her family. The notorious and cunning Chief Minister Navin Kumar is played diligently by Amit Sial as he plans the elimination of Sohum Bharti and strategically frames his wife Rani Bharti for his murder. The drama shows the underbelly of Bihar politics giving it a narrative filled with deceit, conspiracy, and relentless pursuit of power. It sheds light on the cutthroat world of politics highlighting its darker side and showing the extent to which politicians can go to achieve and retain their status and power.

Cast:

Maharani Season 3 builds on the storyline of the previous seasons, continuing with the same lead cast showcasing their characters which undergo a different series of struggles and challenges. Although with her limited screen time, the main focus is taken by Rani Bharti who finds herself imprisoned for 3 years on the accusation of murdering her husband and struggles to prove her innocence and regain the lost reputation of her family. She is shown as a fierce, fearless, and smart character, a diligent and calculative woman in politics who has a clear mindset and faith in the justice system of India. Huma Qureshi plays the character of Rani Bharti almost perfectly and adapts herself to the role as though it is her own story. She seamlessly portrays her hardships, thoughts, and emotions through her expressions and body language and does justice to the character.

Amit Sial takes on the role of Chief Minister Navin Kumar who is a greedy, power-hungry, and deceitful politician who strategically eliminates Sohum Bharti and frames Rani Bharti for his murder. Amit Sial comes off as a scary and creepy character who plays his role with conviction and actually reflects the terror of Navin Kumar through his acting.

The supporting cast, including Vineet Kumar, Pramod Pathak, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Anuja Sathe, and Kani Kusruti, deliver commendable performances, contributing to the overall impact of the plot.

The makers:

The creative team, led by showrunners Subhash Kapoor, along with co-writers Nandan Singh and Umashankar Singh, returns for the third time and delivers a power-packed, gripping, and interesting season yet another time. Saurabh Bhave takes on the directorial responsibilities, maintaining the intense premise established in the previous seasons.

Plot:

The quality of the storyline is maintained and upheld throughout all the seasons including this one, showcasing the individual lives of the lead characters, their political aspirations as well as an overview of the dark world of politics. The plot twists in the film are intricately placed, however, some of them turn out to be already anticipated and do not come off as surprising to the viewers. The killings in the movie also lack some finesse as compared to the other thriller genres. Despite a few lacks and lows from the previous seasons, Maharani Season 3 is packed with an interesting and gripping storyline and does not get boring to watch at any instant. The story is conveniently paced and gives the viewers a satisfying and engaging viewing experience.

Dialogues, background score, and cinematography:

The dialogues for this series are written with finesse and careful attention to the personality of the characters which enable the characters to deliver a more convincing performance. The dialogues are strong and impactful and do justice to the story of the series. The background score is filled with undertones of music, which gets gripping, low, and soft in some scenes of the story at those instants. The background score is overall a good attempt and keeps the story engaging at all times. The cinematography is excellent too as certain scenes shot at certain angles deliver an unsaid message to the audience which is very loud and clear. The overall making of this series is highly appealing and resonates with the OTT audience.

Conclusion:

The new addition to the political drama series Maharani is indeed noteworthy and effectively carries on the legacy and standards set by the previous seasons. Although with a few shortcomings here and there, Maharani Season 3 does not fail to impress with its convincing acting, impactful dialogues, creative cinematography, and superb direction. It is a must-watch if you are a lover of thriller or politics as it is a perfectly amalgamated genre for the same.
