I was posting my flat for rent on magicbricks.com. First thing it took 50 tries to make the description work while the same description worked on FOUR other reputed websites. Each time I added/edited/modified/deleted/re-posted the description it came back that it cannot pass "directory" or something. Only the website developer might know what this "directory" is. It turned out it was not liking my use of "dining-cum-hall" term for the word of "cum". But how on earth would I know its filtering such words making my posting experience hell? Very frustrating. By editing each word I came to know it was stuck on this single word which I used twice in the post (four other websites accepted this SAME posting).

There was absolutely no suggestion why my posting was failing. After I found out myself and corrected this and "posted" it went to "rejected" status in just few hours to add to my woes. And this was due to technical details about calling a building as "Builder Floor Apartment" if it is less than 4 story. I am not a builder/developer/real estate agent to know such technicalities. How on earth a general user is supposed to know this? If they had made suggestion or define it in quick balloon what each field means it would have helped a general user like me. But it was not so. I posted the ad 5 am on second last Saturday of the month morning hoping to catch people looking for properties who might finalize on my flat this weekend or maximum next. In short I was looking for quick settlement of the matter. But trusting "India's No. 1 property site" made my experience hellish.

Now I made corrections to this problem twice but it continued to show in "rejected" status. After contacting "Live" help out of frustration I understood what the second problem is and the Rep helped fix it. Phew. Finally I saw the add in "Active" state. But wait...This is not all, the rep told it will take 1 day to make it visible on website! What!? even after so much frustration I need to wait for 1 more day? They must be joking. Anyway, while from the other 4 sites I am getting great responses, I am still waiting for Magicbricks.com posting to be "visible" on the website. This means tomorrow (Sunday) is also lost for me and this weekend is gone. Next weekend I cannot hope for much responses anyway as its close of month almost and people might be just finalizing their requirements.

Wait...the story with magicbricks.com does not end here. Let me tell you about my previous experience as well. See they are in a habit of frustrating customers to a point where they sit for so long to write lengthy reviews. So the other part of the story was last month when I was myself looking for a flat for rent. Wow I was amazed to see so many fake entries from "individuals" and real estate agents/brokers that I stopped using magicbricks.com that time around.

Each time I looked at an ad and called a person they showed me entirely different property. This went on for about 10-12 ads than I realized, magicbricks.com has 80-90% posting as FAKE. Seems like agents and brokers are just dumping fake entries so people  call them and get "engaged" and then they take them for a ride to their favorite properties instead of the ones they have posted. This was a painful experience for me as I wasted 4 days and over thousand rupees in petrol cost only from magicbricks.com posted entries. These agents/brokers took me for a ride and not once they showed me the property listed on the website.

Seems magicbricks.com has no mechanism in place to check for such fake entries and simply allows people (agents/brokers) to post whatever they feel like usually the property they post is so attractive that you always end up calling or visiting them, but this exactly is the trick they use to induce unsuspecting customers.

So two terrible experiences with magicbricks.com has made me conclude magicbricks.com is India's No.1 most frustrating property website". My suggestion try other websites before you waste your time with magicbricks.com.

Thank you.
