I had purchased a Luminous battery on 10th Nov 2019. Model # RC18000ST 12V - 150 AH.
It worked fine for the 8 months, post which it started causing troubles.
I logged a complaint in June 2020 and an Engineer was sent to check the battery.
He could not assess the situation correctly and subsequently, the battery was picked up for repair.
The battery worked fine for a week and again started to cause trouble.
I logged another complaint and the same process was repeated.
The initial experience to get the battery looked at was so full of inconvenience due to COVID that I was reluctant to log a third complaint and continued to live with it. Multiple follow-ups with the service providers only added more pain to the agony of owning a brand new luminous going faulty.
Now it has come to a point, where the battery is not charging properly again and has stopped giving any backup whatsoever.
To rule out if it was the battery or the inverter, I replaced my existing Luminous inverter with an alternate inverter and the issue continued to persist.
I wrote to the M.D expressing my grievance, requesting a replacement.
After requesting for an Engineer visit not to be scheduled and my battery to be replaced, yet again I was forced to accept an engineer visit for battery inspection so that if found faulty it can be replaced. and the saga continued.
Engineer Mr. Prabhat came to my place and tried to assess the situation, he diagnosed the problem but was not able to assess the root cause and blamed my inverter to be faulty. He asked me to get a spare inverter to test the battery, I told him I can't arrange the same and requested him to get it from his end, to which he outrightly denied and stated that if I want the battery replaced I will have to arrange for al alternate inverter.
The next day, I went looking for an alternate inverter, and finally managed to procure one, I got an electrician to fix it as advised by the Luminous engineer. The electrician told me that one of the nodes on the battery is broken and he won't be able to connect the battery properly. This node was damaged by Luminous Engineer Prabhat. The electrician used a wire to temporarily connect the battery with the inverter.
Now again Luminous Engineer Mr. Prabhat turns up today and completely disowns the entire process of getting an alternate inverter, also along with that he started blaming me for getting an alternate inverter to isolate the issue and then to top it up all blamed me for getting the inverter fixed and last but not the least told me that I have damaged the battery on purpose.
A senior officer called up from the Luminous head office and left no stone unturned to add insult to the injury by shouting and screaming at me and holding me responsible for the battery going faulty.
I wrote to the M.D again narrating to him my entire experience, and I get a reply from Mr. Abhijeet Kumar Assistant Vice President- Service, stating the issue has been resolved.
I'm left with no choice but to spend a whopping amount of 30 thousand rupees to buy a new inverter and new batteries but this time I chose Microtek.
I gave away the Luminous battery in scrap, that's exactly the brand value and product value the company holds for me.
This was not concluded only with a lifeless product but with the people who were also inhumanly assisting me.
