I have flown Lufthansa on three international round trips in the past four years.
I have flown BLR FRA ORD and back in business class once and their service was exceptional. Except that the business class lounge in FRA was crowded and it was difficult to get a good seat.
However, it is a totally different experience in economy. The food is so-so. Worst, they put the flights with no in-flight entertainment in economy to india. Probably they think thats all what indians deserve. But on their other international segments, they have economy with in-flight entertainment, I am told. My only flight out of europe and not to india on lufthansa was to ORD and that was in business, so I have not actually been in the economy cabin in those flights.
Now that said, they extend a lot of privileges to their frequent flyers and above, like 40 kg luggage limit to europe, business class checkin, business lounge use et al. I dont know of any other airline that offers these to the members in the lowest elite category. Probably that explains the rush in their business lounge in FRA.:)
That it is a part of the star alliance is also a big attraction to me. And the partnership with Jet Airways, so that you dont lose your miles when you fly either of them.
Good flying Lufthansa, just put your flights with better economy cabins to India.
