Vikram Bhatt’s Love Games was a torturous movie. The movie starts with these lines over and over again “Roses are red, violets are blue. Sex can be dangerous, but love can be too.” I can’t deny that it was a lot catchy and it did get the viewers got onto the screen in a funny way. The movie was supposed to be Thriller/Mystery; however, it was a sheer presentation of a comic movie.
The movie starts with a suicide of a business man whose wife is super sultry. Ramona Raichand(Patralekha) the newly widow was involved in 3 things as she claimed she liked: ‘Winning, Cocaine and Love Games’.
The movie revolves around 2 couples – Sam and Ramona who are friends with benefits. Sam(Gaurav Arora) is portrayed as a depressed self harming creature, involved too much into drugs and is Ramon’s toy boy. One fine day,
Ramona and Sam decide to play Love Games at high class Page 3 parties. They pick up the happiest couple and the one who sleeps with the partner first, wins. Going on with their addiction to the game and drugs, they end up at a party where they meet a happy couple Gaurav Asthana(Hiten Tejwani) who is a successful lawyer and his surgeon wife Alisha(Tara Alisha Berry). Later in the movie it is revealed that Alisha was abused by her husband and they weren’t happy after all. While playing the Love Game with this couple, Sam falls in love with Alisha and they get engaged in an extra-marital affair. The movie takes a lot of twist and turns that certainly keeps the viewers engaged.
The Bhatt camp has certainly lived up to their trademark in this movie – expensive penthouse in the midst of Mumbai where the middle class morals are unheard of. The movie is a bold approach and too scandalous.
The newcomer Gaurav Arora has shown potential in the movie. However, my utmost favourite was Patralekha, she was supposed to have this mean and demanding rich-widow who is addicted to Sam and drugs. I loved the way she has got the dialogue delivery, right.
This was one of the worse movies I have seen in the theatres but yeah judge it yourself!
