I know I am little late for this review. By this time everyone knows what this movie Love Aaj Kal deals about. Jai (Saif) and Meera (Deepika) are a modern time realistic couples who breaks up to persuade their respective professional dreams. A cool, calculated break up.
They tried hard to come out from their relationship. But, with time only found that they are actually made for each other. In between, Meera’s marriage and divorce, Jai’s joining his dream job and not able to cope up – all these minor things happens.
Simultaneously, the audience sees another story. A love story of yesteryears. When, the couples used to be more committed and from the very first day they were sure that they were made for each other.
The director has blended the stories well. The story of this “Aaj” couple seems quite realistic. We value our career equally as our personal life (if not more). But what do you think of this “made for each other” concept? I know so many young people who has fallen in love (and was out of it also) for a number of times in their life. Without feeling this made for each other theme.
And marriage? Well that is a very calculated decision. Its something like where you can optimize your resources. Two of your girlfriends are equally educated, beautiful, but one is the only child and her father is owning a large house. Of course, you will choose that. Same way, that boyfriend of yours with better bank balance or may be better job security…..ha, ha, ha….sounds more real.
I think even Kareena would have thought twice before dumping Shahid Kapoor if he were as rich as Saif !!! What you think? Anyways, that much reality we can easily avoid in a movie. Else, there won’t be any charm left. I must say the concept of the story is really new and I kept thinking about it long after the film was over. Saif has a double role and acted well but the songs are not much impressive.
