How our Love to Power and softness to Love helps growth of the evil tree which kills many?
Lottos Theenikal takes the reader to the political and administrative corridors ruled by drug mafia. It is the name and the cover that somehow forced me to buy the book and I do not repent, where R Sreelekha IPS's Lottos Theenikal is an interesting suspense thriller from start to end. By saying suspense thriller, one may not enter to the conclusion that it falls to the detective novel category though there are investigations and police involved in many a place.
Vinu, brother of the lazy police officer Manu, falls to the beauty of Rose who was an addict to drugs and suicide in a desperate moment. Otherwise shy and lazy Manu is now determined to fight drug mafia. His wife Nisha is a no compromise police officer and all eager to end the gangs of culprits in the society with her firm hand. Things get a turn, when a Nisha's childhood friend and the first love Chandrashekhar, Chandu comes to see her, keeping his love in mind - not realising that his old pal Nisha (or Thumbi as he called lovingly) is no more the old lovable girl nearby, but a hard police officer to deal with. Things didn't help Chandu, where he is already in police blacklist for various crimes, including drug trafficking. Chandu gets the force of Nisha's hands and boots but he didn't disclose 'I am your Chandu' but take an oath that he will make her salute him one day. Things go that way and you will see Chandu as a central minister and he is targeting Manu than Nisha, for Nisha he still loves her. Read this interesting novel to enjoy the twists and turns with emotional drama mixed with a message to know how the lovers meet again, what happened to the enquiry about drug mafia and lot more.
A tale of love and revenge, Lottos theenikal have drama woven with the emotional thread all along. You do get connect to the Protagonists as well with the antagonist. Often you pray for the antagonist but at the end you will find yourself in the right side. This is success for the author. The writer in Sreelekha is more effective as a writer of love, romance and emotional situations. It is this angle which wins the race for R Sreelekha IPS in Lottos Theenikal.
The author had done a thorough research into the central subject, i.e. drugs, for the chemistry, politics and economics walking through the roads of drugs mafia. The positive ways drugs can be used (especially to help medical science) were eye opener though the dangers surrounding it are well understood.
The first part of the novel mostly portrait Nisha as the leading character of the novel where in the second part, she takes the role of the lover and permit her husband Manu to lead the show. The transition or the fall happened due love, but the pace was fast to cost a bit on the believability. The climax was little overdramatic and thought it would have been better if it was presented with little more logical accuracy.
The writing style is simple to make the reading a fast one chasing the curiosity generated in each turning page. I enjoyed the time, reading Lottos Theenikal.
In fact I was little skeptical to buy the book for I was not that impressed by the author's another book I read, Kuzhaloothukaran. However, after reading this novel I am all yes to R Sreelekha and Lottos Theenikal. Give Lottos Theenikal a try, for it is a light and entertaining read while focusing on a serious subject.
