A Snobbish Prude

Logitech is well known for making excellent computer accessories.

I have used and loved their compact MK240, cute little wireless keyboard and mouse combo that they stopped production for some reason.

The K375s was a well thought out purchase(like everything else if you are not well off), I needed to be able to connect to my laptop and phone and tab, without having to plug in the wireless dongle, and pair and repair everytime I switched device.

The K375s promises the convenience to switch across paired devices with the click of a button. It was a feature that I found useful, so useful to justify spending 2000 bucks on.

I realised that this expensive keyboard is a snobbish prude that has a long list of preconditions before it will do its job. Much like a highly paid actor/actress that will not act unless all whims and fancies are satisfied first.

When it works it works, lets get that out of the way first

The problem is to get it to work.

Lets take the Wireless part. I have used the MK240 with my Xolo Q700 for more than 2 years, and am using a Targus wireless keyboard combo without any problem. It is my strong belief that the only thing needed in the phone is OTG capability. But, the K375s does not agree. It requires something else. What, even Logitech doesn't know!

Now for the Bluetooth part. Bluetooth is already a moody technology, with all the hassles of pairing and pin etc. I really dont understand how it has become so popular. Add the K375s snobbishness to this, and you have a combination that even the most difficult Bollywood stars dont have.

The K375s does not work with any phone that is running less than Android 4.4(Kit kat). That means it doesn't work with my Xolo Q700 and Samsung Galaxy Note 2. I also have a Thinkpad T420s which has bluetooth, guess what, it wont connect to the laptop as well. I can connect other bluetooth devices - phones, mouse etc, but not the K375s.

In short, like a snooty actor asking for the entire set to be air conditioned before he/she gets out of her vanity van, the K375s wants me to change my entire gadget ecosystem before it can perform.

So far, I have got the keyboard replaced twice thinking it was a defect in the piece that is causing this behaviour. But, no, it is like that only.

Now I have to choose, whether to change my good ol pals to accomodate this snobbish prude.
