Hi Bikomaniacs!!
Since freedom is the latest offering from LML(renowned for its vespa scooters)targetted at the masses, one can expect some important traits that the bike shud satisfy to embrace it.
1)Price should be relatively cheap(affordable)
2)Mileage shud be high i.e, it should be a camel and run for days!!(kya karay petrol ka price kum he nahi hotha!)
3)Decent looks(ofcourse!we compare it with victor, splendor, caliber vagera vagera)
4)Relatively easy maintanance(Cannot base this as it is a new bike)
5)features(more practical the better)
1)How much it costs u:44,300 Rupees in Bangalore on road is what the dealer says and that makes it really affordable.full marks on that though it does not come with any electric start or disc brake options. No pocket burns for sure.
2)How many kms per litre: Well on paper, it says 85Kms under standard test conditions.Probably u may have to put it on a tread mill at 35Kms per hour!!! I shud say anything in the region of 55-65Kmph in city conditions shuld be considered as a decent mileage.Even victor and splendor come under this category.
3)Looks:(Aamir shud say yaaradha tashand!!) Look wise I think it shud be ranked as the best or atleast second. There is a lot of similarity b/w passion(Maybe it was market driven). The stickering is the best in the class (very decent indeed). The colors are also very decent and I think this is a big plus which adds to the looks. No rpm meter(wonder what wonder it would hav caused if it were there unless u were a pro).
4)Maintenance:Cant say much as it is new in the the market. But since energy is doing a decent job, maintanence shud not be on the higher side. Also, this is a 2 valve engine compared to the 3 valve engine of the energy and adreno.
5)Features: Many features which come with the bikes that are being released offlate.
Notable are:
1)U cannot shift to the gears if the side stand is on Pretty useful feature and nice job LML!!
2)The choke is reachable when u r gripping the handle bar(ergonomic too)
3)Halogen bulb with a nice reflector.
4)the shocks are pretty good(as good as the best)
5)Pickup is better than splendor in the 1st and 2nd gear and from there on the same as the rest. The gear ratios are well matched and the shifting is slick.Nice job here 2.
6)Braking was not to my taste and disc brake option would be ideal(Indian bike manufacturers are most stupid ones when it comes to brakes)
7)110 cc 8BHP engine(decent power)
Verdict:Well hold on, who am I to pass one?But anyways for all u curious maniacs...Freedom definately has a lot going for it and I believe it is a nice package trying to fit in a market where if a formula clicks, that formula will be used by everybody with cosmetic changes.
But this formula suits the customer and at the end of the day u will be the one with a lot of smiles and that is good. Freedom gets 8 out of 10 if I were to rate it. It is always better u decide what u want by taking a test ride and comparing it urself. All these reviews shud be taken as a guide and u can always override it!!!
